JC: ~ that is excatly why I asked Hamba about another mohamad during the prophets time - I’ve spent so much time reading hadiths that this one struck me because there is a muslim claim that the prophet was the only one to have that name… So, I have not forgotten this hadith…

**Volume 3, Book 45, Number 687:

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:

Allah’s Apostle said, “Who would kill Ka’b bin Al-Ashraf as he has harmed Allah and His Apostle ?”

Muhammad bin Maslama (got up and) said, “I will kill him.”

So, Muhammad bin Maslama went to Ka’b and said, “I want a loan of one or two Wasqs of food grains.” Ka’b said, “Mortgage your women to me.” **Muhammad bin Maslama **said, “How can we mortgage our women, and you are the most handsome among the Arabs?”

He said, “Then mortgage your sons to me.”

Muhammad said, "How can we mortgage our sons, as the people will abuse them for being mortgaged for one or two Wasqs of food grains?

It is shameful for us. But we will mortgage our arms to you."

So, Muhammad bin Maslama promised him that he would come to him next time.

They (Muhammad bin Maslama and his companions came to him as promised and murdered him. Then they went to the Prophet and told him about it. **

And also Hamba - if you use someone else’s work/words - cite the source - thanks!

The name of mohamad is not mentioned anywere in the old or the new testament. Actually for the muslims to claim that is a contradiction.Muslims claim the bible is corrupted but then claim mohamad is mentioned in the bible.

the bible is clear about false prophets like mohamad. here is an example
1 john [21] I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and know that no lie is of the truth.
[22] Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
[23] No one who denies the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.
Mohamad denied that Jesus is God, denied the father.According to mohamad you can t even call God our Father. So according to the bible mohamad is a liar and the antichrist. for me it can t be more clear.

1 thimothy 3 [15] if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.

The above post is correct:

~ mohamad is **NOT **mentioned in the OT & NT

~ muslims **DO **claim the Bible is corrupted

~ muslims **DO **claim mohamad is mentioned in the Bible

I see no “muslim bashing” going on…! Just the facts. 👍

My understanding is that Muslims believe that the Old Testament scriptures are corrupted. If they then use the corrupted scripture to proove what they claim is truth… I think you get the idea.

I have studied into Islam. And I was actually very hopefull; but for islam to be truth you must essentially abandon reason. And worship a God that is the best of decievers. A God that leads astray. While I do believe God can do as he pleases which includes lying or anything else we can dream up I do not believe he ever will.

That said it is possible that the original Quran written in the original language understood by someone of that culture and understanding that language of the day may very well understand the text to mean something different then muslims do today. If this was so then both the Quran and Old Testament are corrupted not by human hands but by the human reality and is no fault of ours.

… While I do believe God can do as he pleases which includes lying or anything else we can dream up I do not believe he ever will.
We were taught in Catechism class that God of the Bible cannot do anything contrary to his nature.

I read and watching on the internet about Mohamed’s name being in the Old Testament. The referenced word allegedly located in Deuteronomy and Song of Solomon is: מוחמד

I’ve been trying to learn more about Islam since a friend of mine has supposedly read the bible and finds Christianity to be wrong. I thought this would be a way to get different, hopefully good references for my studies. I’m looking for valid (academically honest) Jewish, Christian, secular or other sites that deal with this effectively. Islamic references are not valid in and of themselves without evidence (manuscripts) that can be corroborated by secular, or other sources.

If you know the answer, that would be great.

Thanks.
Interesting–I’ve never heard this. A question right off the bat–so for this to work, wouldn’t Mohammed have to be spelled مخمد instead of محمد ? Sorry if this has already been addressed in an older post–but I didn’t see that it had.

To my mind, ח equates to خ and ح equates to ה. It doesn’t seem to me that this works.

Yes. This has been dealt with already I believe. But I also had a friend that clarified this as well after looking it up. My friend was a Protestant and became a Muslim some years ago after having bad experiences from our previous faith. I did discover however that Muslims do believe that Jesus is the messiah, which shocked me. But they do not believe that Jesus is the son of God. This sounds gnostic to me.

If Mohammad’s name was in the Old Testament, which it isn’t, it would only be to identify him as a false prophet.

…I did discover however that Muslims do believe that Jesus is the messiah, …
Really? Did you ever ask any of them what the term “messiah” means in Islam?

Debating Muslims has left me with several impressions: 1) that Islam is miles wide, but only a millimeter deep, meaning that it cannot stand up to questions that probe past the first, as this narrative illustrates; and, 2) the vocabulary Muslims use might be the same, but the meanings are different from our understanding.

Sounds the same with Christianity.

Mormons consider themselves as Christians too. What they call baptism is not Christian Baptism. What you’re saying about Islam is the same for Christianity. There is a wide interpretation of Christianity as well, much like Islam.

Catholic uses terms that to not convey good meaning unless you are Catholic. That’s one of the main reason there is so much misunderstanding about Catholicism. Examples would be Sin, mortal and venial. When someone says they’re Christian it means nothing to me now because they have not proven themselves to be orthodox Christian. That means I withhold certain information about my Christianity unless probed deeper. Islam is also the same in that sense. They have particular beliefs that differ because of their interpretation of the Qua ran, Sound familiar yet? We have the Holy Father together with the hierarchy to guide us through interpretation. Whereas Islam does not have the same type of leadership, no central authority.

Even if this were true it is completely irrelevant to the topic and the point, which is Islam has different meanings for the same words Christians use. We are not discussing the meaning of baptism in Mormonism; we are discussing what you brought up, and that is that Muslims believe that Jesus was the Messiah, implying that “Messiah” means the same in Islam as Christianity, which it cannot because Islam does not teach that Jesus is the Son of God, the Redeemer, nor the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. Perhaps this is why I’ve never gotten an answer from any Muslim on what it actually does mean to them; such an explanation would more than likely expose a major difference in the two “Messiahs”.

The erroneous claim that “Messiah” means the same in Islam as Christianity is a veiled attempt to convince the unwary that Islam and Christianity have a lot in common, which they do not, and raises the question as to why Islam is always compared to Christianity in the first place [even by Christians] and never some other religion. Is Christianity the yardstick to validate Islam, or to drag Christianity down to Islam’s level … or both?

And then there is still the question, is Islam really a religion?

Masabkibrothers. his words.“according to the Bible- Mohammad is a liar and a Antichrist, for me it cant be more clear”

that is Muslim Bashing

You could say the same about King Solomon,

According to the Bible King Solomon was on speaking terms with God, a man who executed slaves that did not work hard enough, add to that 700 wives, now he is more like a Antichrist than Mohammad
