In the history of revealed truth…God choosing to speak to man through chosen, mortal men who had true faith in Him…
Looking at the story of man’s beginning…Adam and Eve were given the Garden of Eden. They were in friendship with God, Who Himself is Wisdom. They had everything they needed, but were forbidden to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good vs Evil.
It was Lucifer now coming to Eve as a most beautiful of creatures, tempting her to eat and to become as the gods…she did eat, and then shared with Adam, and then God spoke to them and they were ashamed.
The serpent was reduced to crawl, the woman was placed in dominion under her husband, loosing their original, reciprocating friendship, and the man had to toil the earth for a living by the sweat of his brow.
So, here the Light of God is made available to first man and woman. But then Satan appears in deception, and gives them a new idea to find happiness…disobeying God, mistrusting Him, and eating the Forbidden Fruit…which…makes man think he can be as God…superior…and decides who lives and who dies, when this is best kept to God alone.
God alone is the Author of Life. To say God changed His teachings through Christ, and now it was OK to kill and feel superior over others because of some kind of religion, this alone creates hatred and fratricide…the marks of destruction and death, not life and peace.
Jesus, then prophesized in the Old Testament would be no stranger to suffering…the ends that Adam and Eve were given for tasting the Forbidden Fruit. But Jesus Christ is the new Tree, Who Himself was prophesized in Isaiah who would die on a tree…
Jesus is the New Adam, His Eucharist the new Bread and Wine that gives us new life, strength to avoid sin, and to be united with Him in offering atonement for our sins at the Mass.
When we receive the Eucharist, we are not receiving that body and blood of Christ Who died on the Cross…We are receiving the Body and Blood of the Risen Christ Who gives us love, joy, and a new vision on life, and delivers us from ignorance, sin, and hate.
Revealed Truth comes to us. And the Evil One always comes later with another story…that leads to sin and death.
