This coming Saturday will be a “moment of reckoning” of sorts at my parish with regard to liturgical abuses. We are undergoing training for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and lay readers.
The training will be conducted by the “diocesan liturgist”, a liturgically abusive priest who did damage to the way the Mass is celebrated at our parish when he last visited about 4 years ago.
Things are different now. We have a GOOD new pastor (unfortunately he was under the care of the aformentioned priest while he was a tranditional deacon) and a new bishop.
What is the best way to get across that we need to stop several abuses. Most importantly:

What is the best way to get across that we need to stop several abuses. Most importantly:
- Laypersons entering the sanctuary and circling the altar during the kiss of peace. (The teaching priest instituted this when he was last here – the pastor at the time could care less.)
- Pouring the Precious Blood out of a flagon into 4 chalices.
- Using 7 or more EMsHC when maybe 2-3 are needed at the absolute most.
- The forced standing of altar servers even during the Consecration.
