Attending does not mean you support “it” or approve it. You go because you support her and love her.
Be Christ.
Be Christ.
Yes that is right. God forbid she should go seeking happiness for herself in such a selfish manner as marrying someone she loves enough to make a commitment to in that manner. And of course, you are always supposed to make your decisions based on how your adult kids will feel about things. But she got herself into this mess between her and her son. She knew the consequences or should have known the consequences.
Fr Simon is welcome to his opinions. The Church has not issued any decree wrt attending weddings where a valid marriage will not result.Fr. Simon of Relevant Radio has answered this many times. He has said going to same-sex ‘marriage’ is approving of it.
I like this post. I even gave it a heart. Instead of talking all about the sinfullness of others, you just own the simple fact that the wedding would make you uncomfortable so you wouldn’t go. No blaming anyone else or pointing fingers. Good on you.My cousin is a lesbian and had a partner for awhile. If they were getting married I wouldn’t go. I’m just not comfortable attending such an event. Even if one of my siblings were to do such a thing, I wouldn’t attend.
Christ also had very clear and very blunt words about what marriage is.Christ dined with tax collectors and he didn’t support sin.
No. I didn’t confuse anything. She isn’t obligated to recognize the Catholicism of her son. Just as he isn’t obligated to recognize the lesbian marriage of his mother. You are confusing things. She is not obliged to make her decisions based on how her adult children feel. She is, however, obliged to recognize a Catholic son who is in any way honouring the truth of his faith, cannot be expected to sanction utter nonsense.
Your second example isn’t correct either. Because then the operant situation would be, the kids would not be expected to attend her confirmation.
That’s an interesting question - - what would Our Lord do about such an event? Would He go and smile and drink the champagne, or do a “turn over the tables” move? I’m sure we all have an opinion…Attending does not mean you support “it” or approve it. You go because you support her and love her.
Be Christ.
