Since there presently are 17 sisters there, I suppose transferring all of them to the same community is not practical. But it is a shame they could not be kept together, having lived as one for so many years.Each sister is presently in conversation with other Benedictine communities where
she will seek to transfer her vows.
The monastery is closing due to the advanced age of the sisters, their dwindling numbers, and the deteriorating condition of the buildings.

Very sad. I know what it feels like. On Staten Island we lost the Augustinian Monastery due to dwindling numbers and developers. Now we are in the the situation where they may close the Jesuit House of Mount Manessa to developers.Since there presently are 17 sisters there, I suppose transferring all of them to the same community is not practical. But it is a shame they could not be kept together, having lived as one for so many years.
The monastery is closing due to the advanced age of the sisters, their dwindling numbers, and the deteriorating condition of the buildings.

The Vicentian Sisters of Charity of Pittsburgh joined with the Sisters of Charity of Nazerath Ky.the same order my late cousin Sister John Edna belonged to.The Vicentian Sisters of charity who were in Cleveland joined the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati.
The Dominican Sisters of Peace were several communities that came together to form a new group. The Sisters of St.Francis of the Newman Communities up in New York state was also founded when some of these franciscan groups like the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Divine Child of Williamsville near Buffalo and others joined together.
This so far hasn’t happend with any communities in the San Antonio area.
It’s sad.However there have been various communites over the centuries in the church who were here and have long departed .
