Just wondering, if a priest blesses a Monastery Icon, it’s all okay, right? I mean, minus the fact that its purchase supported a New Age sect et al. Like, its spiritually harming qualities are negated, right?
My priest told me that he has heard stories of demons coming out of Monastery Icons. He refuses to have any in the church, save one which was given to him as a gift.Just wondering, if a priest blesses a Monastery Icon, it’s all okay, right? That doesn’t make any sense. If they were demonic, what difference would it make if it was given as a gift?My priest told me that he has heard stories of demons coming out of Monastery Icons. He refuses to have any in the church, save one which was given to him as a gift.
I don’t know his reasoning, that’s what he told me. He himself hasn’t seen demons come out of his own icon. That doesn’t make any sense. If they were demonic, what difference would it make if it was given as a gift?
They aren’t icons to begin with (pictures, really) and they come from a syncretistic religious tradition that invokes pagan deities as they are made. An icon, like anything spiritual that we produce, comes from a religious tradition whose doctrines are reflected in the icon.I have several of their icons-and I’m not going to get rid of them!
The question hasn’t been answered then: what’s wrong with Monastery Icons?
orthodoxinfo.com/general/monasteryicons.aspxWhats wrong with Monastery Icons?
Holy cow. I get this catalog now and again and sometimes have considered getting 1. Staying well clear.
I recieved one as a gift. I had our pastor perform and excorcism and THEN bless it.Just wondering, if a priest blesses a Monastery Icon, it’s all okay, right? I mean, minus the fact that its purchase supported a New Age sect et al. Like, its spiritually harming qualities are negated, right?
