Hi guys! šŸ™‚ firstly, im new to the website, i absolutely LOVE IT! that being short and sweet, im hoping for some advice on a particular dilemma from my fellow Catholic brothers and sisters…
so, my husband’s best friends mother (who is the ā€œfamilyā€ friend) is VERY wiccan. shes now about 50 yrs old and has been a witch for i would guess a good 90% of her life. now, i have mixed feelings about this because as a person i love her and respect her, however(!) there are times when i cannot go to her house. its like i feel this incredible urge to jump up and RUN out of the house because it gives me a weird ā€œi-need-to-leaveā€ feeling. besides that, i’ve had some weird experiences in my own past that to this day freak me out: i.e. when i was converting back to Catholicism from being (or trying to be) muslim, i was extremely distraught (understatement!!) and it felt like a true fight for my soul between heaven and hell, tracing the edge of the precipice of despair, and *in my minds eye *i saw all these demons swirling and writhing around me trying to keep me from going back to the Truth and then Our Lady stood above them all and was reaching out Her hand to lift me out. (really, i am not crazy!) i prayed the whole Rosary 4 times that night and finally fell asleep in peace. (and this is connected to what i was originally posting lol i promise!) so anyways, obviously im VERY Catholic now lol and havent had any such experiences since then, however, i have seen in this woman’s eyes something strange, that reminds me of those demons i saw. she sometimes goes into ā€œwitch-modeā€ for lack of a better explanation, its almost like a weird momentary trance, and i remember vividly that when she looked at me in the midst of this strange moment that it wasnt her, it didnt seem human. it was EXTREMELY freaky. like there wasnt the glow a person should have in her eyes or the sparkle that she gets when shes happy. theres a few times ive seen her in this mode, the first being the first time i met her, about a month after my husband and i got married and we were home for the holidays. we thought i was pregnant and so when she offered us wine i politely declined. my husband went into the kitchen to talk with her (he told me this part later) and she said, shes pregnant isnt she? he said we werent sure. so i was heading into the kitchen, she met me on the way, put her hand on my stomach and gave me this horrible intense look (kinda like the one i mentioned above, only this gave me shivers up my spine!) and said, ā€œyou are. its a boy.ā€. FREAKY. she was SOOOOO convinced that she was right. she said you dont need to go to the store to get a test. my hubbie was right there agreeing with what she was saying  (mind you, she has this weird way with her ā€œsonsā€ (being her actual biological sons and her ā€œadoptedā€ sons who are her biological sons friends if you get what i mean) and theyd wait on her hand and foot if she asked them to, more so than their OWN biological parentsā€¦šŸ˜¦ ) we did end up getting a test and i wasnt pregnant (haha). she also gave us a basket of ā€œgathered thingsā€ thats not just an ordinary basket which also had a satchel of wiccan protective stuff that my husband brought with him to iraq (we were just friends back then) and i was extremely uneasy with it being in my (VERY) Catholic house. luckily, i found a Catholic way to destroy occult items and i did it when my husband was away on military training (i know it was sneaky, but i put the basket in the rubbish and he took it out and i put it back and he didnt say anything, so better forgotten (and nonexistant), right?). she also told me that i am ā€œunder the protectionā€ now because i am part of the family. i was smiling with one of those  moments inside saying i dont need YOUR ā€œprotectionā€ because i have Jesus and Mary! i never go to her house without my Rosary or blessing myself with holy water. now i pray for Christ to destroy anything that is evil and occult that has been placed upon my husband, me, us, our families and friends. im more at peace when i dont have to be there…

my question to all of you is, what do i do? visit? dont visit? what is the RIGHT thing to do?? the Christian thing to do?
thanks for your help and i hope i made enough sense!
Love and peace in Christ!šŸ™‚

Do not mess with this kind of stuff.

Simply do not go, be busy, have other plans (like Adoration) and so on. Do not imperil your soul by going face to face with evil, or things you consider to be evil. Do not think that you have the strength to fight this off alone on someone else’s home court.

Witchcraft is never a good thing and the experiences you outline are scary and telegraph nothing good.

thank you very much for your response! šŸ™‚ it is VERRRY much appreciated!

Love in Christ,
becks:)

and what if my husband wants to go?? or should i just pray for him while hes there?

Is your husband Catholic? If so-- study the Catechism together and pay special attention to the section that deals with the occult. We are to stay away from these activities and influences and certainly not bring any such items into our own homes.

If visiting her is causing you spiritual distress-- stay away. If your husband refuses to stay away, then make it clear he is not to bring any occult items into your house nor is he to talk about any of it with you.

Wiccans aren’t known to worship the devil…they worship nature…but I’m guessing satan can take that and manipulate it so they think they are worshiping nature but really worshipping him?

If you feel that weird about it and uncomfortable stay away at all costs…As far as your husband I’m not sure what to say. If he isn’t Catholic or even if he is but not devout you are going to have a hard time convincing him of your feelings. Especially since he has such a strong connection with this woman. Instead of seeing your point he may just see you as unreasonable…and give you the whole ā€œwhat’s the big deal, you are being paranoidā€ response. My future husband was born and raised Catholic but no longer believes. He humors me but it was like torture bringing him to my confirmation and he sat through the whole service text messaging his friends. (I’m a convert btw) All you can do is calmly express your unease and hope he can take that into consideration. Whatever you do, do not argue/beg/plead lol Some men automatically go in Off mode when that happens.

That is just from my experience from seeing different married couples…you know your husband the best and only you can know him that way. Listen to your heart and pray to St. Monica and St. Rita. They will intercede for you. Also a priest will be able to give better advice since they are trained to deal with occult type situations and counseling!

PS: I’m sure the lady is nice and well meaning but I would not have the patience to deal with the kookiness. Under the protection of the family my butt!!! All you need is Christ! lol She’s the one that needs protection.

I would suggest not going at all and avoiding that house like the plague. Perhaps I would even go to the measure to find the nearest exorcist to your house and have him visit this woman. She perhaps is demonically possessed and doesn’t even know what she is doing. Be careful. Don’t think you can handle this by yourself. As many people have said this is the type of thing to leave to priests. On the other hand she might just be mentally unstable, so I would at least stay away for that reason, who knows when she will crack.

Very good advice.

There is no way, in a million years, I would ever visit a home like what you describe. Period.

and what if my husband wants to go?? or should i just pray for him while hes there?
Have you evee had a discussion with your husband about how uncomfortable all of this makes you feel? From what you have said, it sounds truly scary ( ), but it seems your husband doesn’t necessarily see it that way. I think it would be important to share that with him.

This is just my opinion (and I certainly don’t have all the facts, so take it for what it’s worth), but I think it would be best for both of you to distance yourself from such a person. It seems like it has the potential to be very spiritually harmful. Especially when you have kids (if you don’t already). Will you want your children going over to this woman’s house and calling her ā€œgrandmaā€? Or relying on her to be their ā€œprotectorā€? It seems you want to definitely answer these questions now rather than waiting until your children are older.

no, hes methodist, but hes not practicing. i bring him to church with me sometimes. he says hes a mix of things, though hes slowly coming deeper into his Christian roots i think (which is good). i try to set a good example for him, but i cannot deal with this wiccan thing! i have a lot of people around me that are wiccan/pagan (i dont know the difference! to me i consider them the same) and sometimes i wonder if im supposed to be a little light for them in Christ. sadly, my friends that are pagan used to be Catholic or have family that are. even this woman that i was talking about, her family was Catholic, though from what i understand they used it as a cover for being pagan (not sure if they ALL did that, but it seems like enough. she apparently had an uncle that was a ā€œdevoutā€ Catholic, however he also is reported as saying ā€œthe Bible is the dirtiest book in history given all the horrible things that happened in some of the stories because it was a book written by men for men.ā€ … i dont even know what to say!) so yeah, thats the general spiel on that! oh, and she has gone on some tyraids of how she hates baptism and that its evil and that Christians are bad and they murdered her people (the other pagans like AGES ago…) and on and on about all sorts of things! i was HORRIFIED! its not like i walk into her place and say, oh youre pagan, i need to burn you at the stake! seriouslY! and after her tyraid she wrote me a note saying that there was no rhyme or reason for saying what she did and that she loves and respects what i believe…uhhuh! (mind you, shes also on heavy meds for some serious issues…)…lol i dont even know what else to say! but all advice is welcome!šŸ™‚

Sounds like she needs a better therapist instead of an exorcist. Show love and patience to your husband. He will come around.

That’s how St. Monica converted her husband…on top of constant prayer!

Best of luck in your situation and God Bless

Def talk to a priest!!

lol actually, her therapist is very good, she just resists him a lot on her issues i think. shes had an extremely hard life, seems almost fantastical in a horribly twisted way, and she doesnt trust anyone. shes like a very broken little girl who is very proud and independent…
i did talk to my priest whos a great man. he told me to remember that all things created are from God and that they are good because He made them. its people who twist them. I would like more advice from a priest though, it would be very helpful. I think my priest doesnt know much in these departments. Though he is a fantastic priest!

can only offer advice from a friend of mind, who had a similar situation, in this case home of a relative who went off the deep end with this stuff. She just could not bear to visit because the feeling in the house was so oppressive, and she did not want her children their, either. She told the woman that her candles (she had candles everywhere) made her allergies act up so she had to stop visiting. which was true, but not the real reason she stopped coming.

Stay away for a long time. Pray for her all the time. Try to set a good example. Tell your husband how you feel until he gets it. She may convert as a result. Or he may break contact with her and her ā€œfamilyā€. Some of my best friends are pagans, and I mean that literally. I have had to face many heartaches distancing myself from them and them from me. It’s all worth it.

Trust your feelings to leave. There is darkness there.
(understatement!!) and it felt like a true fight for my soul between heaven and hell, tracing the edge of the precipice of despair, and *in my minds eye *i saw all these demons swirling and writhing around me trying to keep me from going back to the Truth and then Our Lady stood above them all and was reaching out Her hand to lift me out. (really, i am not crazy!) i prayed the whole Rosary 4 times that night and finally fell asleep in peace.
It was a fight for your soul, the vision of demons was probably real as well as your vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I don’t believe you would be crazy for this.
(and this is connected to what i was originally posting lol i promise!) so anyways, obviously im VERY Catholic now lol and havent had any such experiences since then, however, i have seen in this woman’s eyes something strange, that reminds me of those demons i saw. she sometimes goes into ā€œwitch-modeā€ for lack of a better explanation, its almost like a weird momentary trance, and i remember vividly that when she looked at me in the midst of this strange moment that it wasnt her, it didnt seem human. it was EXTREMELY freaky. like there wasnt the glow a person should have in her eyes or the sparkle that she gets when shes happy
I’ve seen that same look. It probably wasn’t her. Witches have ā€œfamiliar spiritsā€ with them. It depends on the person as to if they allow the spirits to possess or if they simply get information and guidance from them. I would imagine she allows them to possess her.
. theres a few times ive seen her in this mode, the first being the first time i met her, about a month after my husband and i got married and we were home for the holidays. we thought i was pregnant and so when she offered us wine i politely declined. my husband went into the kitchen to talk with her (he told me this part later) and she said, shes pregnant isnt she? he said we werent sure. so i was heading into the kitchen, she met me on the way, put her hand on my stomach and gave me this horrible intense look (kinda like the one i mentioned above, only this gave me shivers up my spine!) and said, ā€œyou are. its a boy.ā€.
Sounds like she is getting her information from a familiar spirit that is not very intelligent šŸ™‚ .
FREAKY. she was SOOOOO convinced that she was right. she said you dont need to go to the store to get a test. my hubbie was right there agreeing with what she was saying  (mind you, she has this weird way with her ā€œsonsā€ (being her actual biological sons and her ā€œadoptedā€ sons who are her biological sons friends if you get what i mean) and theyd wait on her hand and foot if she asked them to, more so than their OWN biological parentsā€¦šŸ˜¦ ) we did end up getting a test and i wasnt pregnant (haha). she also gave us a basket of ā€œgathered thingsā€ thats not just an ordinary basket which also had a satchel of wiccan protective stuff that my husband brought with him to iraq (we were just friends back then) and i was extremely uneasy with it being in my (VERY) Catholic house
luckily, i found a Catholic way to destroy occult items and i did it when my husband was away on military training (i know it was sneaky, but i put the basket in the rubbish and he took it out and i put it back and he didnt say anything, so better forgotten (and nonexistant), right?). she also told me that i am ā€œunder the protectionā€ now because i am part of the family. i was smiling with one of those  moments inside saying i dont need YOUR ā€œprotectionā€ because i have Jesus and Mary! i never go to her house without my Rosary or blessing myself with holy water. now i pray for Christ to destroy anything that is evil and occult that has been placed upon my husband, me, us, our families and friends. im more at peace when i dont have to be there…
The best thing to do is to burn those items. She could have used them with spells that were cast either for or against you.
my question to all of you is, what do i do? visit? dont visit? what is the RIGHT thing to do?? the Christian thing to do?
thanks for your help and i hope i made enough sense!
Love and peace in Christ!šŸ™‚

Do not visit. If there are other spirits with her that are ā€œearthboundā€ they could possibly attach to you and you could bring them home. You don’t want that! The Christian thing to do is to protect yourself from future possible harm and if she were to come to your house, treat her with kindness and compassion (as Christ would do).

Peace…

lol believe me, ive got annointed rocks in all 4 corners of my house, i sprinkle holy water around, blessed salt, i have a HUGE St. Benedict medal in my house specifically against witchcraft and evil, and i wear a Brown Scapular (which i have since it was heaven-sent to me after my whole experience above with Our Lady reaching down to pull me out of the hell i was in. im sending my husband with a St. Benedict Medal today with some holy oil with an excorsim blessing on it to keep on him.

Dear OP:

I don’t think any of us doubt that the wonderful vision of the Virgin Mary was real šŸ™‚ Thank you to Jesus for saving you out of the clutches of darkness in islam. Halleluja.

I second the others that say you should stay away from the witch. I absolutely believe that there are these witches that actually have allowed to be taken over by demons.

I would say that you should protect your self totally by staying away. And if you have to meet her then have a big, blessed, benedictine exorcism cross around your neck. šŸ‘
And if you feel her weird gaze on you just keep saying the name of JESUS inside of you or even whisper it loudly so she can hear it. There is SUCH POWER in that Name šŸ™‚

The ideal situation is that you take some people with the charismatic gift to drive out evil spirits from people, and all together go to her house and exorcise her. That’s what the apostles did… scary? yes… but the woman is trapped by the devil so its necessary.

And yes… burn all occult books or objects you, your husband, or anyone else has taken into your house over the years.

Jesus our Messiah bless and keep you safe šŸ™‚

Grace,

The only thing I disagree with is driving out the spirits from her with a group of people. The reason is that she would still have to renounce her witchcraft, burn her sacred objects and devote herself to Christ. If she does not she would just invite them back in and she might be in a worse state afterwards.

I’ve seen this many times. The person absolutely has to renounce their sin and place their faith in Christ. If she has allowed these spirits to possess her, then they have a legal standing to be there.

I’ve exorcised demons time and time again for a person and the spirits come back. Why? They were allowed to be there. So, then why do I still do it sometimes? Because the circumstances dictate that it is better in some cases (as in Satanic Ritual Abuse and cults) to exorcise them temporarily to avoid even greater evils in the present.

Unfortunately, unless the woman wants to change she has in effect allowed herself to be in the clutches of the Devil for his purposes and she must recant.

Peace…

MW.
Brother you are right… hm… but then that means… somebody has to step into the snakes nest and get the woman ā€œpreachedā€.

Thats what I think. šŸ™‚

Good. The witch will sense it right away and will keep the spirits at bay. As Grace alluded to: if you feel her gaze on you and you feel evil around, silently in your mind repeat the name of Jesus. The spirits can hear your mental recitations and will be repelled. Exclude everything else in your mind except the name of Jesus.

Peace…
