Moral theologian voices concern over CCHD grant process

Just dont give them any money. I dont. Our money should be going to make the CC beautiful and worthy of the Majesty of Christ our Lord. He has been treated really bad on account of human rights. People has not yet realized that many of us are putting ourselves above God, some of us have been doing this for quite a while.
 
I don’t give money on the weekend of the cchd in our diocese. Our parish automatically takes 10% off the top, and I don’t want any of my $$ going to it. I double up the week after.

Me neither. I am glad I went to the Traditional Mass and the priest told us not to give money to this cause. I already knew it anyway. They are not credible. Besides the money should go to build beautifull Houses for Our Lord. They have abandoned the House of God to do advance worldly things. It will never profit. without God we can do nothing.
 
I will not be giving of course…sent this link to our liturgy head (a Deacon) but maybe I am too late to get the word our to the entire parish.😦

I suspect it will be completely ineffective. When the scandal came out two or three years ago that the CCHD had given $1.3 million dollars of Catholic money to what turned out to be a political criminal organization, (ACORN), everyone was told to put little acorns in the collection basket in lieu of a check. I know this was done because it was verified by a friend of mine who actually saw the acorns when the collection was counted. Even after the “REFORM the CCHD Now” campaign, after all the exposes by good Catholic blogs and organizations, we now read that instead of defunding the evil, the percentage going to these organizations has actually increased. Until each individual bishop puts a stop to this in his own diocese, it will go on.

Yes, that is why the grassroots approach is better. If we can make most priests aware of the gravity of the scandal, perhaps they will pressure their bishops to stop supporting it for their whole dioceses.

God bless those at least 10 bishops who didn’t contribute to the CCHD campaign in 2010, and let’s pray for those who plan to allow this scandal to reoccur in their dioceses this year.
 
I left information print outs in our Church. I also have been talking to key individuals to let them know. I know one Deacon who is going to talk to Fr. and doesn’t want to even take up the collection at all. I am hoping Fr. says to scrap it for our particular parish. At one of our Masses that I have some control over, we will not take up the collection. I guess you do what you can do. Here again, it seems to be up to the laity in a lot of situations to do the ground work.
