A 14 year old boy who cries and tries to tell his grandparents (us) about his moms friends is truly harmed by her disgusting behavior. She does not have the right to bring in a lesbian partner if her son is disgusted and put off by it. He still loves his deceased dad. There are those born to gay/lesbian, no doubt. My heart goes out to them Not an easy life. There are those like daugher who make that choce for a variety of reasons, one being to “shock the family”. She is attracted to both male and female. She has made the choice. I cannot imagine sex with a female. She needs to put herself in our shoes, We have supported her financially, gone to her court hearings, bought her groceries, clothed her son, saw her through the death of her husband. Now this immoral behavior???Don’t think so. IF she did not have a son, had never married, we would not “like” her choice of lifestyle, possibly accept her decision, though not agree with it, but her actions are affecting her son. We are not saying that we don’t like her partner. We only met her once and cannot make a decision based on that meeting.“We feel that is is harmful to the children.”
Can you elaborate on this? What exactly would be “harmful”? Are you worried that your step-daughter might harm or abuse the children?
This is one of the most widespread misconceptions about homosexuality - but the myth has been cleared up many times over! There is simply no evidence to suggest that homosexuals are abusive people. They are simply people who have fallen in love with a person of the same sex, nothing more, nothing less. The children probably know that homosexuality is just a normal part of a persons life, and simply part of who they are. As long as this is the case, there should be no problem.
You may not agree with their choice of partner, it may not be somebody you would choose, but you need to accept that people are free to make their own choices and they should not be told who they can and cannot love. Try to put yourself in her situation, and wonder what it would be like being told that it is wrong for you to be intimate or get married to the person you love.
Love and peace,
