I believe, correct me if I am wrong, but the RLDS now believe that the BoM is symbolic or allegorical or something…shifting sands

It is possible to do it from the air and if I remember correctly the SC has said you can look at things that are visible from the air. If it is illegal to do GPR from the air it should be illegal for Google to take pictures of your yard. 🤷
Well alrighty then. Anyone want to invest in a “History Channel Special”? 😃

The bottom line is that many “prophets” and “apostles” from the LDS Church have declared The NY Cumorah is THE Cumorah. The LDS Church could put it all to rest and show the whole world that js was right all along, as were all the other “prophets” and “apostles” who declared what they declared.

The fact they refuse is all we need to have for proof that the LDS Church the Book of Mormon is false.

And dont forget they stand to lose millions of dollars, even billions if cumorah was dug up or some other means and nothing was found. The saga continues…

Exactly! If it is all legit and true…then why so much hesitation from LDS leadership?:whistle:

The same reason they hid the Mark Hoffman documents that proved the Church was false when they THOUGHT his documents were legit. They could NOT let the members know

Again…how pathetic and sad. :dts:
Yeah, the Hoffman stuff still leaves me shaking my head…all those “seers and revelators” fooled by a con artist even better than js. So many thousands of dollars given to Hoffman by people who, if they were what they say they were, would have never been fooled.

What makes it worse is that what they bought, they hid because they feared they were accurate documents and would hurt the LDS Church.

So, not only fooled, but dishonest

I got a question.

What if the Book of Mormon was true, JS was a prophet, the Nephites were inhabitants of the Americas and that a battle really took place at Cumorah, what do you think would happen? I am quite curious to see peoples opinions.

Btw, I don’t believe it to be true. But if it was… well, it would change everything.

The more you reveal to us about the LDS, I really feel sorry for those folks. I’ll pray for them to see the light as you did.

If frogs had wings, their hineys would not hit the ground when they jumped.

But, to answer your question, if it were true, I would still be LDS

But that is whole thing…it is NOT true. IF it were true, then why not tell the whole world? Geee…you think they are hiding something?

It really is telling. How many miracles has the Catholic Church claimed and left to the scrutiny of anyone who wishes to investigate? We did not shy away from excavating the tomb of Peter. And guess what we found? The tomb of Peter. The evidence is there for all to see. The miracles at Lourdes have been investigated by hundreds of medical doctors and scientists who are left without explanation. I am trying to think of anything, really, that we keep hidden from the world. Nothing comes to mind.

I don’t know if their refusal constitutes “proof”, but it sure seems enough to convict.

I heard this is the next project by Dan Brown who will tell it how it really happened:p

MJ
His latest book is a real stinker according to all the reviews. I think I’ll pass on reading it. I really didn’t like his blockbuster but felt obliged to read it since everyone else was. Now I’m more selective.

I dont look at things this way, what if or could have been. Jesus told me to protect His Church, enough for me.

however, to get this thread back on topic, I was suddenly reminded of the story of Quetzalcoatl.

What are your guys thoughts on the ancient “white god” of the native american’s

P.s. my Grandma on my fathers side is Cherokee so i’ve heard this story many a times. for those who don’t know the story here is a link.

You need to brush up on your Irish roots my friend. 🙂

St. Brendan the Navigator:
The Shawnee Indians of the Ohio Valley in the early times of the United States had a memory of a “white Indian” tribe on the coast near Florida who used iron tools. Other accounts by Indian tribes — especially the Toltec Indians of Mexico, tell of a white man who came in a skin boat and stayed with a tribe of Indians on the Atlantic Coast of North America.

What makes you think that because Jesus ascended to heaven, he cannot descend again? How did Paul see him (Acts 23:11), if he couldn’t descend again?
He is going to descend again at the last day and smite all sinners i.e., polygamists, etc. So be prepared.

He is going to descend again at the last day and smite all sinners…
That would include all of us, would it not? You are correct that we all need to keep vigilant and we need to keep our spiritual houses in good order, but we are all sinners and will face the judgment of God. That is why we so desperately need a Savior. 🙂

Anyone here ever heard of the Mormon belief of Jesus going to the Americas?

:hypno:
I don’t know for sure if Jesus ever came to the Americas. However, I believe that as a God, he is capable of doing anything he wants. If he wanted to come to America and not go to Australia or Europe, that is what he will do and none of us including the Church can question him.

BTW, you may wish to read this book amazon.com/He-Walked-Americas-Taylor-Hansen/dp/0964499703 and make up your own mind if the book is related in any way to your question. I believe it was written by an anthropologist unrelated to the LDS church.
