Before Parker convinces the world that Mormon spirit babies are produced in a sterile manufacturing process, let’s see what an LDS prophet taught about
the continuation of the seeds:
“The Mormons believe that all men were born in the spirit world of the union of the sexes, having a literal father and a literal mother before coming to this world, that the spirits are just the same in appearance as the body, that God is a married Being, has a wife at least, as Jeremiah said the angels were offering incense to the queen of heaven. The Latter-day Saints believe that God is an exalted Man, and that we are the offspring of Him and His wife.”
I would like to add my opinion here, as I cannot say that I am a perfect spokesman of doctrine. But to reiterate what ParkerD has been saying, we dont know. And by WE I mean, us, as in all of us that have not had the heavens opened up to us to reveal to us the unimportant mysteries of heaven and the reproduction or production of spirit children regardless of religion (and so I’m puzzled why so many people get so caught up over it to matter of debate and heated feelings). HOWEVER, from what President Cannon said, if we die and learn that we were made by the command of God upon an intelligence and became our spirit bodies, i wont be shocked. Likewise…if we die and find out that God and His Wife create spiritual children by the “union” of their perfected bodies or some process similar to the process on earth, i wont be that surprised either.
Think about the purpose behind why we do things the way we do on earth. Is it an accident that we are in families? is it that when we were being created God was like…hmm how should we make them able to reproduce? and so he comes up with a creative new “union of bodies” called sexual intercourse, where the woman carries the child and nurtures it? I personally do not think so. I think that all things of God are patterned after a pre-existing process or method.
Additional food for thought: When children are physically created, are they not “organized”? After conception, does the woman not partake of the dust of the earth (earth nutrients consumed by plants which are consumed by the woman) which the womans body breaks down and feeds to her womb where the miraculous process of organizing matter into the form of a baby occurs? Although this seems a slow and primitive process in the scope of creating billions and billions of children (if we are talking spirit children) and so it may be a type of the way things are done in the eternal world…but those are just some thoughts, not officially declared doctrine
But seriously, this is not something to get caught up on. If you are trying to understand mormons because you hear they are crazy, start with the core beliefs, and fundamentals. Dont try to learn calculus and say it doesn’t make sense before you know how to solve a system of equations.
But really, the thing is we should all be united in finding truth. And if we happen to disagree along the way, I’m fine with that, and I can respect a difference in beliefs.
