**Hi Dianaiad,I sat here for five minutes trying to think of something appropriate to say to this.
There just isn’t anything one can say to an announcement like this: you are telling MEgus that you really can cut his tongue out because you have killed 54 people.
Actually I was joking, but sometimes jokes don’t work well on the Internet. However yes, I was traind to kill and did it very well!, with all type of weapons and even open handed! But having been shot 3 times on 14 May 1966, I havn’t been fighting anything but physical pain every day for over 42 years now. That, of course is not counting the physiological pain all warriors carry with them through out their lifetime. It is part of having been a different person at a different time and place with different values and choices that had to be made! You wouldn’t be much help at a major car accident, I can tell!
RebeccaJ, Thank you! **
**Hi mf,One of my buddies was over there – a sniper and he never ever talks about it, much less brag about how many people he killed. We were at war and it was a necessary evil, but is not something you brag about to show you are a “man”. Most real men do not have to go around trying to prove what they are.
My friend, I am a combat-disabled Nam Vet. My only “visable” damage is my left hand! I was a Ranger! In our first fire fight in country, I lost over 30 buddies that I had trained with for over 2 years. They were all like my brothers! After 11 months of jungle warfare, I was hit three times and spend 14 months being put back together physically. Only Rambo heals while you are out getting popcorn!
I actually don’t talk or brag about Nam. Many people who have actually known me for years don’t know of my service much less my wounds. Most times Nam vets only talk about it to other Nam vets who were also in hell and understand! At the hospital today another Nam vet and I were talking, we had no signs proclaiming we were Nam vets, but we knew! We can spot each other across a crowded room most times. It is in the eyes!
Oh, by the way, out of my entire unit of over 145 men that went over together in 1965, only 3 of us made it back alive! I am also not saying that to brag about that. I think many of them, who did not come back deserved to live more than Idid! But God does what he desire and we survive the best we can. And another thing my friend, I actually killed more than 54.That is only the confirmed ones on my citations. I don’t have nothing to prove to anyone, much less you!
A very dear friend of mine of over 18 years passed away this morning at1AM. I am morning my lost. He is with God now and can pray for me that I also obtain eternal rest when it is my time!
You all are in my prayers! Lighten up, none of us are getting out of this world alive!
God is Good, even the Mormon’s gods whatever their names are!
God Bless**
