I am not surprised. People want substance to their faith- they want meaning to their life- not endless homilies on social justice and endless missionary work in food kitchens and homeless shelters. They want community activities- not to come back from communion to see that everyone has left- and to pass by them on the street and have them laugh at you when you fall like everybody else does. They want people who are trying to change the culture- not roll over to it. Let’s face it, most Catholics just aren’t up to that- and people are getting sick of it.

Add to that the church sex abuse scandal reached its Apex in Boston and they have such loyal catholics as the Kennedy’s to look up as err practicing catholics and you can see the draw of the Mormon religion. I have found my interaction with Mormons as beng nothing but impressed with thier commitment to faith and to family it is quite alluring even to a person who thinks their religion is total bunk. Now if you don’t think the religion is bunk and have crack open than the postiive attributes of Mormonism can surely hook you in.
