It’s true; they have changed over time. Joseph Smith was very clear in what he taught. He said that God told him that every denomination was an abomination and that their professors were corrupt. They don’t seem to say that anymore.
They still say it.

Wow, very interesting. It really does make for some good sci-fi!

Seriously.

I LOVED that show as a kid. 😫

And Glen Larson was Mormon? He of Magnum PI??

If it’s the words that are causing them trouble, invite them to Holy Mass so they can hear the words for themselves. Tell them there’s even a guy there that explains the words. 😎

It’s still in their canon. They may not say it, but it’s part of the Pearl of Great Price and they can’t deny that it’s there.
Some Mormons believe that the Heavenly Father came down to earth to have physical sexual intercourse with the Virgin Mary to conceive Jesus. Not all Mormons believe Jesus was conceived in this way, and some even go as far as to claim the LDS church does not teach this, though the fact of the matter is is that the LDS church has simply not authoritatively pronounced how Jesus was conceived.
It used to be widely taught. Now they’ve backed off of that position. They basically say that God is the literal father of Jesus, through Mary, however, the means by which she was conceived is not known. It could have been physical sex, but it could have been artificial insemination. Or possibly something else. They just don’t know.
f you have any questions about them, you can PM. I’ve been studying Mormonism for a long time now.
I was a member for 57 years and held about every local position possible. I can also speak with good knowledge of the Mormon church.
So I Googled this. Poof. Mind blown. I have clearly been living a sheltered life. Thank God I was raised Christian and found my way to Catholicism.
God doesn’t live on Kolob. That’s a common misunderstanding. Mormons believe that Kolob is the name of the star nearest to the planet where God lives. They don’t have a name for that planet.

Lemuel - didn’t you just join the Church with the rest of us at Easter?

Thoughts? I feel like nearly every Mormon debate ends up with word games as well. What does CAF think?
Mormons have their own lingo, you just need to understand it in order to communicate effectively.

It isn’t “word games”, just a legitimate language barrier.

BTW, we Catholics use terminology that’s sometimes misunderstood by others as well. The term “sanctuary” means the entire worship space in the church by our Protestant friends, example given.

I agree with everyhting you said. With LDS in general it’s all about appearances and it’s only skin deep. Mormon “apologetics” are comical an useless to anyone outside the church. In fact, I know of cases where LDS people looked at FairMormon or other apologetics and wound up leaving the church because the answers are so meaningless.

God bless them 🙂

Maybe it only takes that much. I find Mormonism so weird though that I can’t be the “apologetics” person myself.

I can’t stress how wonderful the average LDS person is. Caring, loving, highly moral and just nice to be around, so I agree totally-God bless them. It’s heartbreaking to see how they believe a religion that is so clearly based in lies and created by a conman. Absolutely tragic.

I pray for them too.

Y’all have got to stop (yes I’m laughing at my lapse into a long-abandoned vernacular)…😮 (My facial expression must be nothing short of priceless.)

The things you learn lol 😛

I think the most dangerous thing is how fringe, yet how power hungry Mormons are. Lots of control in the West. And one even got to the top of the ticket for US Prez (Romney).

I did! 😎
I thought so! Welcome, fellow Catholic!! 💕💕:raised_hands:t2::raised_hands:t2:

Gives new meaning to the term “cult following”.

I’ll get my coat…😂😂😂

lol…yeah no kidding 😛 Didn’t care for the 2000s remake: I thought it horribly misanthropic and nihilistic.

I think it’s getting better. The LDS church is rapidly fading away. Their convert rate is horrible, their growth is plummeting, and they have a problem with keeping their own kids in the faith. This isn’t Utah of 1992 anymore. Power is the last thing they’ll have in two decades. Think of it this way-the mayor of Salt Lake City virtually had to be LDS for years and years. Now, she’s an out lesbian who I can assure you-isn’t LDS!

The LDS church is in the final stages of a long collapse.

I remember thinking about that when the mayor was elected. I was all - well, this is a twist…
