Could anyone share a little more info on this report or book that explains this mormon teachings and the wrong it brings?

I can only suggest purchasing a copy and reading it. That way, there is no paraphrasing, and no filtering of the information.

To learn about Morman history one needs to learn about Solomon Spaulding. He is an interesting figure in this history. A search on Google will give you several perspectives of his story and his relationship to Mormonism.

Just finished a book on this exact topic entitled A Tale of Two Cities: A Comparison Between the Mormon and the Catholic Religious Experiences by Rev. William Taylor. wow, I see a big difference already…theres a whole lot of me me me…what bull is that. And so they basicly hate us…so thats why my ex’s parents hated- no wait I already knew they hated me because I was Catholic and was started to get to their daughter…ha ha ha.

The Mormons have a website which covers many of their beliefs without reading the entire Book of Mormon, Pearls, etc. I believe it is under LDS (Latter Day Saints). The website also explains the Mormon theory of Prophecy which can explain inconsistencies of Mormon teachings over the years.

:twocents: One of the things I encountered with Catholics is they are pretty accepting of other faiths.I like the idea of ecumenism.Of course I also like everything else about it which is why I spend so much time putting in my two cents.I was raised a mormon.And I left when it dawned on me that there was a symptom of ‘parroting’ .There is a meeting called sacrament.And one thing that everyone repeats over and over and over and over (ad nauseum) is “I know without a shadow of a doubt that the church of jesus christ of latter day saints is the only true church” Listen to that for all your life from the time you are a little child. I believed it. I was absolutely appalled when people said I wasn’t Christian.Sometime around the age of 14 I started questioning why this was that people said I wasn’t Christian.So, I became a Wiccan. This was circa 1978.I eventually started reading other stuff and years later I now want to take communion so bad I actually have to leave the building because the emotion is so overwhelming,what the the tears and the runny nose and the sobbing.I am embarassed to no end. But I don’t care.because I understand that He REALLY IS IN THAT WAFER! But,thats not the point.
The point is who can really say who has the monopoly on God?
I think everyones kinda correct in a way.WE just muddle it all up because we are really impressed with our own intellect.This ranting of mine is proof.So,I’ll shut up now.

Our journey to faith is such a personel journey. I am grateful that you expressed yours. We can’t explain how the Holy Spirit works in each of us. We can only marvel at the beauty.

I have learned so much on this site in the last 2 years. The biggest thing is how people are so misled. How they are told that Catholics are this and that. But the thing i have learned the most is just to pray for them. That is the most important, and hope they can come to see what God wants them to see. In the end we are all God children, and the worst we can do is comdem eachother. But the truth is the truth, and i think that alot of people really never realized that The first Church was Catholic, the first bible was Catholic. and when they learn that it opens up their eyes. thats all that counts. But i think Mormons are good people, just like us, believe what they are taught. Just not as lucky as some, but all in all they are still Gods people too.

I recommend the book “Beginning Apologetics 2: How to Answer Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons” by Father Frank Chacon and Jim Burnham. You might also check out the book “When Mormons Call” by Isaiah Bennett which you can get here:

I have this book and it is very helpful. Living in Utah, it’s very interesting some of the things the Mormons believe about the Catholic church. I actually had a mormon co-worker ask me if it’s true that Catholics can go to confession and ask for forgiveness for something they are going to do! Another co-worker made the comment that we had Good Friday off of work and none of us were Jewish! The only other Catholic in the office and myself almost fell off our chairs laughing!
Anyway, I would HIGHLY recommend this book.

I think Grant Palmer’s book, An Insider’s View of Mormon Origins enlightening. Mr. Palmer was a LDS seminary teacher until he fell out of favor because of the book. (But he still is LDS as far as I know.) The book used to be available through the LDS bookstore, but I don’t think it is anymore. I had to get an interlibrary loan of it (even the local bookstore wasn’t carrying it at the time.)
If you want to receive the Eucharist, consider becoming Catholic. Speak to a priest. Go to RCIA.
I believe you will need to be Baptized. (Notice that I didn’t say re-Baptized. That’s because there is only one Baptisim, and unlike the many Protestant baptisms, LDS baptisms are not accepted in the Church–the beliefs are too different.)

I was raised a mormon.Sometime during my Aaronic priesthood days it dawned on me That it was a bunch o hooey.However,as I said before,They are a fairly responsible bunch.They make great employees.

Might need to read this book as I am Catholic and my daughter joined the Mormon church a year ago and is raising both of my grandchildren in that church. Although my 5 year old grandson stills goes to Mass with me if Mom lets him stay over on saturday night. I want her to come back so badly, but I don’t want to push her away either so I try not to say much unless she seems to want to discuss her faith a little. So I will continue to pray and pray as long as it takes. Jesus will take of it his way. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, she’ll probably never return. The ‘vice-grip’ the Mormons have on most of their members is usually unbreakable.Might need to read this book as I am Catholic and my daughter joined the Mormon church a year ago and is raising both of my grandchildren in that church. Although my 5 year old grandson stills goes to Mass with me if Mom lets him stay over on saturday night.
