there is a question on this site that says three vulgate Bible & Segt. questions, You can go there and it will explain it better. It has links you can refer to. I don’t know how to do that or I would have shown the links. This way is much quicker.
Thank you but I don’t have any questions about either. I was addressing your claim about the first Bible.

I am sorry the first bible was indeed the Catholic Version of the Bible. There was no bible before that. If you are talking about the OT it was never called the bible. They did not even have a bible in those days. As a matter of fact the bible is composed of the OT and the NT… The OT only is not called the bible. As a matter of fact they still do not except the NT. The OT was called and still is called today Sacred Scripture and is still believed by the Church Today. Tell me where do you get your truth from. Are you saying because you never give me a straight answer, Does your Church go by the BIble or not? Yes and no does not cut it. You either believe that the Bible is the word of God or you do not. At this point when I refer to the Bible I will say the KJB or the Catholic Version.

How in the world could God publicly agree with the bible when it was written hundreds of years after his death. Come on! Jesus did not leave us the bible he left us the Church. The Church that was started by Peter and still here today. The RCC.

rinnie,

I understand you want to participate in the discussion but sometimes when you don’t know very much, it’s best just to not say anything.

The Hebrew Bible is, in point of fact, a Bible:

thefreedictionary.com/Bible

pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/religion/first/scriptures.html

The Samaritan Bible is, in point of fact, a Bible:

Tell me where do you get your truth from.
If it pleases you, I can get it from the Catholic Church - specifically the Catholic Encyclopedia of 1917, now in the public domain:

"Hebrew Bible

As compared with the Latin Vulgate, the Hebrew Bible includes the entire Old Testament…"

newadvent.org/cathen/07175a.htm
Are you saying because you never give me a straight answer, Does your Church go by the BIble or not? Yes and no does not cut it.

You asked a yes or no question - actually four of them and then you specified that you wanted a yes or no question.
If you didn’t want a yes or no answer, you should ask a yes/no question and then specifically say “yes or no.”
You either believe that the Bible is the word of God or you do not.

That true, and I do.
At this point when I refer to the Bible I will say the KJB or the Catholic Version.
You are using the terms incorrectly.

The Catholic Bible is not a version. It is the specific Catholic Bible canon with it’s 72 books. Some Catholic versions/translations include the Revised Standard Version, The New Revised Standard Version (my favorite) and the New American Bible. I think I have them all.

The KJV is actually a version/translation but what you mean to say is the “Protestant Bible” which has 66 books in it’s canon. In addition to the KJV, there is also a NKJV and the NIV (which also comes in a Catholic version) among many others.

Early in the thread you disagreed with me when I said that God has never publicly said He agrees with the Bible. Now you seem to be agreeing.

Which is it going to be?

snow, Funny how I can say version but it is wrong, but then you can say version/translation, they mean the same thing. You must make a art of twisting everything around. I can see that now. But we will get back to the point you said you go by the Catholic TRANSLATION of the bible.

Ok here is my question plain and simple, since we are reading the same bible we should have no problem.

What does your church teach about adultery?

Yes you are correct, and I stand to be corrected. Please forgive me, I was not taught to try to trick people or play games with the word of God and the teaching’s of the Church. But I have learned and will be on guard for now on.

I believe I will go with my first answer again, thank-you. Because the Church is the living Christ. So the RCC does hold to the teachings of the bible, and say that they are true, so yes Jesus has publicly said he agrees with the bible. He has done this through the Church, through the Pope and his Apostles with these words.

1tim 3:15
But if I should be delayed you should know how to behave in the household of God which is the Church of the Living God the Pillar and foundation of Truth.

Matt 16 18-19 Peter got the keys to the kingdom, which is still handed down today to the Pope.

So yes it is through the Pope today that Jesus is still publicly saying that he agree’s with the teachings’s of the Apostles that are in the Catholic Version if I may of the bible.

He also said that the Church will prevail and stay standing until he comes again in glory. And it is still here today, the same Church that was founded by Peter it is called the RCC.

So Again the RCC is still the living Christ you cannot and willl not separate Christ from his Church they are one. And still here today.

I dated a mormon from Oklahoma, And one time i went to something called a testimony meeting and it was the weirdest thing i have ever seen. All i heard was the people say " this is the true gospel" about 200 times kinda like brainwashing.
And some girl cried cuz she was happy that her brother loved the mormon book more than her, also some guy was a bad man before he went to the mormon church he said he drank caffine!
i laughed, If jesus drank wine surely soda is fine.
It was far from christian, it was a sad sight really for me
cuz it sounded like a story to me and the people there actually believed it.
** I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you. (1 Cor. 11:2)**
God even says to do as he did when he was on earth

Good for you, Why do they have to distort the truth so much, and try to trick people so much? That is what I don’t understand. And how they can say drinking coffee etc is a sin. Where do they get this stuff? I think like you said they try to brain wash you. It does make sense since talking to snow, I can see, they avoid you question, or try to turn everything you say around when they know exactly what you mean. How sad huh?

i mean they cant even watch r movies now that is brainwashing.
they are the best liars on earth,

I do agree that Religion is based on faith. But we do have proof, as far as the teachings of Christ. We call it the bible. How could you say that the RCC has no proof that God believes as they do when the follow the word of God. If the bible is not the word of God could you tell me who’s word it is. I can not give you visual proof nor will God. you either have faith or you do not. God tells you himself do not test him! But how can you say that the bible is not the teachings of the RCC?
How do you know the bible is the word of God?

Aren’t you the guy that said that Peter wrote the NT? How did he do that if it was written hundreds of years later?

no mormons are entirely on faith, if you wanna dig deep you should check out the DNA evidence, catholic on the other hand have evidence, artifacts, dead sea scrolls, and a church that has stood 2000 years even after rome fell. mormons have feelings
we have history.

I never said Peter wrote the NT I said Peter started the RCC. What does starting the Church have to do with writing the Bible. You sure like to twist words around. And I still stand on what I also said about faith in God. He will not prove anything to you. He does not have to.

they are the best liars on earth,
Just from the few on this thread I am starting to see that. Unreal. What could they possibly be gaining from all of this.

How do you know the bible is the word of God?
Because he left us the Church. And the Apostles to teach us the faith. But we don’t need the bible never did, all we NEED is the Church. But don’t get me wrong we believe in the bible and know it is the word of Christ, But the Church was here long before the bible. The Church has been teaching the words in the bible long before it was written. What is your proof?

I don’t know – someone back there said that Peter wrote 13 books of the NT - I guess I got you confused with someone else
