Mormons believe that they will gain God like abilities and qualities after death.

Which is why they believe God used to be a man.
Precisely, and they also believe that this is why Jesus was in human form; because he had to go through that stage before he gained the right to become a God, just as they believe about God himslef.
They think that they can become a God too.

Well, the Book of Mormons is taken from the King James Bible, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mormonism took many of its beliefs from misunderstandings of Christian doctrine.

By the way, Mormons aren’t Christian because they don’t believe in the Holy Trinity and Christ in the flesh and they aren’t baptized with the correct formula. If anyone tells you you have no right to say who is or isn’t Christian, just tell them that the the Church of Christ gets to say who is or isn’t a member of itself.

That’s correct. They use the protestant bible, that is, they do not have the seven books; Tobit, Judith, Maccabees1 & 2, Book of Wisdoms, Ecclasiasticus / Ben Sira and Baruch.

This is also true, they have strayed very, very, very far from original Christianity.

Amen, since catholicism was and still is the Origianl Christian Church and Doctrine.

By the way, what dose “softcore Methodist” mean? Is there a hardcore Methodist? An extra crunchy extra spicy Methodist?

It means that I am not a stubborn protestant, but one that is openly progressing towards catholicism. I am soft in the centre. 😛
Is there a hardcore Methodist?
Yes, I use to be one.

Are you talking about denominations? If so then yes, there probably is! 😃

I am extra chrunchy and extra spicy baby! But you can’t have a bite! 😉

LOL I prefer cheese puffs 🙂

I am quite ashamed of how far from the topic this thread has gone…

Back to the main point; MORMONS!

God the Father has relatives and this is explained by the doctrine of infinite regression of the gods who initially were mortal (cf. TPJS, p. 373). God the Father has a wife, the Heavenly Mother, with whom he shares the responsibility of creation. They procreate sons in the spiritual world. Their firstborn is Jesus Christ, equal to all men, who has acquired his divinity in a pre-mortal existence. Even the Holy Spirit is the son of heavenly parents. The Son and the Holy Spirit were procreated after the beginning of the creation of the world known to us (cf. EM, Vol. 2, p. 961). Four gods are directly responsible for the universe, three of whom have established a covenant and thus form the divinity.

:oZundrah! even Mormon’s wouldn’t talk like you did to Eucharisted, and you cannot be Methodist they would not talk like that either. Mormons believe in Joseph Smith and some of their laws i do not agree with. You have to read their book first, then go to their church , then pray that the holy spirit will give you a message that you believe in Joseph Smith first and then you can join their gruop. I do not believe in Joseph Smith but i have friends that are Mormons I told them how i felt about their beliefs and that i would not swear to Joseph Smith. I am still friends with them but i will not go to their church ever again. They will baptize anyone in your family that is catholic and the Pope does not want them to have any names or information on catholics because of this ONE baptism. I would not want to be baptized if i died and how could i stop it? Joseph Smith had brain problems after a fevor when he was young i believe .He was looking for the real church as alot of people search for he couldn’t find it so he made his own up and it allowed sex with other woman and children etc. Love of Christ Nancy:thumbsup:

Wow you said quite alot for one post! I know more than enough about mormons thanks; my friend has been mormon since 1973 and her father inlaw has been bishop over their local unit twice. 😃

And yes, even a mormon wouldn’t talk to Eucharised the way I did. I was kidding, you know that right? 😊

Come back!

Zundra, did you ever see their chart of heaven? Where Jesus doesn’t even make it to heaven he is with the sinners? That is not good. And in their book of Doctrine and covenants chapter 119 it is very bad. Have you read this? LOL Nancy:) I like cheese puffs to!😃

You can eat all of the cheese puffs you like, but you can’t have me!

P.S I’ll look up that chapter now.

Eucharisted,
I personally believe God the Father is a resurrected Person who lived on an earth, but also believe that just as Christ was always perfect, He was also always perfect meaning perfectly sinless. So that is way different than what you have written here.

Man was really created in the image of God. Man really can “become perfect in Christ”, and inherit a joint throne in the heavens just as the apostle John taught so plainly. But that will I assume take thousands of years after this life to qualify, through learning much more than we learn in this life. It’s part of what “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man.”
