This sounds a little strange. I will say however that if I am a mormon and I commit a serious sin, ie, adultery, fornication etc and go to the bishop to confess, depending on my circumstances and remorse and god, I may be called before a counsel if excommunication proceedings are deemed necessary. But for no other reason is a mormon asked to go before a counsel.I cannot say that what happened to hubby is something that always happens, I do not know that. Yes, he was called to confess once a year. Several times during this time he was asked to go before a counsel. .

I think that Hal will back me up on this one. Was your husband disfellowshipped or excommunicated at the time that all this was happening? The bishop may have been seeking a progress report in order to reinstate him into full fellowship.
