Perhaps one where the host is Green Jello and Amway is sold afterwards?Yes, didn’t you know? He created his own Mormon/Catholic rite.

I can. Many of our Bishops are “hogtied” by the tax code to speak forthrightly from the pulpit concerning about moral issues (that just happen to also be political.) They are too afraid of losing their tax exempt status if they weigh into clearly telling their flocks about immoral choices in politics. However, the LDS seem to have no concern about it and can so act as one (now that I can’t figure out.)I’ll never understand why Catholics can’t be as motivated in their efforts to defeat gay marriage and abortion as the LDS are.
I would consider it a mortal sin to vote no on Proposition 8 or to vote for a pro-choice candidate when a reasonable pro-life candidate is available. It’s pure lunacy. The courts have no right to redefine marriage over the will of the people.
The homosexual lobby is not satisfied with equal rights, they want to force us to deny our faith.
If same sex marriages are made legal then schools will be forced to teach children that they have an option on who to marry.
Do you want schools teaching this to your children?
If schools refuse, they will be sued.
Please vote yes of prop 8.
Most Mormons have a “testimony” which is a spiritual experience which is often life changing, and which verifies to them that the church is true.I was listening to Focus on the Family last night and they were discussing Proposition 8 in California. They said the LDS members had put Catholics and Evangelicals to shame in their efforts to pass Proposition 8 and preserve traditional marriage. Of the 50,000 volunteers, the great majority were LDS.
I’ll never understand why Catholics can’t be as motivated in their efforts to defeat gay marriage and abortion as the LDS are. Overwhelmingly, Catholic states in the northeast are the most pro-abortion areas in the country while the LDS states seem to be the most pro-life, at least when it comes to who they vote for.
Hey, first time ever, I think, we totally agree! Well said-- while being so “tolerant” should we tolerate abortion? Condoning evil is different from loving the sinner. I have not problem with gay people, it is when they start infringing on my rights to advocate traditional marriage, as has happened in Massachussets, that things must be stopped. At no point in time does tolerance mean that I must condone a lifestyle that is against my faith.
Let us look more closely at your example. The specific issue of unathletic boys being called names is not an issue of condoning or condeming anyone. It is poor behavior on the part of people and it is not corrected at the source: home and schools. THere are kids every year in my CCD class that use such titles for people and things, and I do my best to correct them on it. The problem is in the use of these terms by society without considering the effects.
However, just because I am opposed to mistreating anyone for any reason, it does not mean that I have to give in to every demand made by every special interest groups. I am as opposed to this gay “marriage” thing as I would be to a man marrying a dog or polygamy. There is no issue with being homophobic, just like I am not anti-zoophyle or anti-Mormon/Islam for my other views. I see no logical reason to allow for gay “marriage” other than to make a group of radicals sleep better at night.
Abortion is the same way. There is no good way to justify any abortion. IN every case, at least one life ends and multiple are usually seriously harmed. I cannot sit back and stay silent on this any more than those who faught for civil rights for minorities, the women to have the right to vote, or those who wanted to free the slaves could. IN each case, they were told that it was the way it was and it was the law. In each case, they kept working until things changed. But some people see a million dead babies as a fair trade to a better economy. Or an end to a war that will end anyway (they all do). Or a new and better representation of AMerica. Or whatever.
What should scare people is the cross-contamination of these issues. Why should homosexuals care about protecting a woman’s “right” to murder her child? Why should those in favor of abortion care about homosexuals who cannot reproduce? Think about it…
It’s good to know that good people from all of our religious traditions can agree on this. There simply is nothing acceptable about gay sexual relations that should require society to condone it through granting a marriage license. Let people do what they want to do in private, but public acceptance is off the mark. We won’t just have to tolerate it – eventually, we’ll be prosecuted for even criticizing it if it becomes legal. Our freedom of religion would be infringed.Hey, first time ever, I think, we totally agree! Well said-- while being so “tolerant” should we tolerate abortion? Marriage, being a legal, societal institution is in fact defined by Government. You can’t get around it.As a Mormon/Catholic who is voting “no” on Prop 8, that is a current source of embarrassment. Government has no place defining marriage one way or the other. That job belongs to individual religions to sort out themselves. As far as I’m concerned, the fact that fewer Catholics are supporting Prop 8 is a point in favor of the Catholic Church.
This idea that the government shouldn’t regulate marriage is a red herring used by supporters of gay marriage to promote it. Of course the government is going to regulate marriage. It always has.Marriage, being a legal, societal institution is in fact defined by Government. You can’t get around it.
Before gay marriages were legal, the government said so, and where legal now, it is the government that is defining it.
You have hit the nail on the head.Generally more and more Christians become lukewarm in America because they have too much, they have everything they need so they dont normally rely on the Lord.
chapter 16:49
“Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.”
sound familiar?
Huh? I’m sorry you had some sort of problem. Do you care to share? Mormons and militant lesbians…uh, … usually we don’t mix too well.Sorry, but it was just too easy.Like I said, I totally understand. I had problems with a militant lesbian in the midst of that mess. And apparently, Mormons set her up to it.

So it appears there is a conspiracy against you from the radical right, militant lesbians and the LDS church?I will be voting Democratic. I agree with Bart on prop 8, and I am against abortion, However, I believe that the Republican party is in deep denial about the strength of the radical right, particularly that which historically has been nurtured by the LDS church.
If there were fewer rabid homophobes, there would be fewer gays demanding the right to “marry”
The next few weeks will be very interesting.
I really of course know you are not paranoid, but I still don’t have a clue what you’re talking about with the lesbians and which enemies I am trying to divide etc. You usually have great posts, but I can’t figure out what this is about at all.Oh, yeah, I’m a paranoid schzophrenic. Please, give me some aluminum foil so I can make myself a hat to stop the radio signals coming from SLC.
Never heard of “Divide and Conquer?” :juggle: Otherwise known as starting a war between your enemies so that you can look good and be oh so innocent? Even better when they don’t even know that they are your enemies.
Which conflicts with this:The endowment ceremony of the Utah-based church at one time included this vow:
“You do solemnly swear in the presence of Almighty God. His holy angels and these witnesses, that you will avenge the blood of Joseph Smith on this nation, and teach the same to your children, and that you will from this time henceforth and forever begin and carry out hostilities against the nation, to keep the same intent a profound secret, now and forever, so help you God.” (Smith, W. 1857)
Another more recent transcript has:
You and each of you do solemnly promise and vow that you will pray, and never cease to pray, and never cease to importune high heaven to avenge the blood of the prophets on this nation, and that you will teach this to your children and your children’s children unto the third and fourth generation.
You asked, a legitimate question, I told you. Sorry.Only the father, since he violated rights, and robbed, and did what was not good among his people, shall in truth die for his sins. You ask: “Why is not the son charged with the guilt of his father?” Because the son has done what is right and just, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live. Only the one who sins shall die. The son shall not be charged with the guilt of his father, nor shall the father be charged with the guilt of his son. The virtuous man’s virtue shall be his own, as the wicked man’s wickedness shall be his own. But if the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die. (Ezekiel 18:18-21)
The “you” was the plural and generic “you”, and you (specific and singular) know it. I do not believe that all LDS hold to this doctrine of their church. Do a study of “seed” in the Book of Mormon.with the lesbians and which enemies I am trying to divide etc. .
There is a bigger picture than one can realize, especially when the Catholic church defends Marriage and Life in the womb. For one example many Catholic fraternity’s, The Knights of Columbus donated 10 million dollars for Yes on 8. Talking about putting your money where you mouth is? I am not one to compete with others who are in the same fight for Justice and protecting Marriage as God created plan for a man and a woman.I was listening to Focus on the Family last night and they were discussing Proposition 8 in California. They said the LDS members had put Catholics and Evangelicals to shame in their efforts to pass Proposition 8 and preserve traditional marriage. Of the 50,000 volunteers, the great majority were LDS.
