I believe God and only God is perfect, maybe the Catholic Church is wrong.
As Catholics we know better. I am old enough to have lived through the sexual revolution, the rise of militant feminism, nutty nuns jumping the convent wall to become wiccans, no-fault divorce, the general disreqard for Paul VI encyclical on human life and and more. I can truly say there were times when I too thought maybe the Catholic Church was wrong. Now I see the chaos that results when we chose not to listen and “follow our heart.” The pain that might have been felt by listening and following the Church is nothing to what people end up going through today as a result of “following their heart.”

Not everybody has had the same experience.

I can’t believe you’d choose to have a child when it would have no father, and no mother either since you are obviously not healthy enough to raise the child.

How selflish.

Why do people in today’s society see having a child as a “right” and something to “fulfill” them, like they were buying a puppy?

How is this browbeating helpful to the OP?

Here’s one of my favorite quotes from St. Francis de Sales: “We must cook the truth in charity until it tastes sweet.”

Agreed, it was a little harsh under the circumstances…

However, very appropriate for those who persist in saying it’s okay. In *that *situation, I say AMEN!

Perhaps she has a trusted friend/friends/relative/relatives who can help her raise the baby and raise the baby if she unfortunately passes away.

I was harsh but the point still stands. If I were her, I wouldn’t even buy a puppy.

WilmaORTEGA, your posts read like the perfect example of the confused Catholic who believes that their opinion equates to their conscience.

Following your conscience means that you take steps to properly form that conscience in the teachings of Christ, the natural law and the teaching authority of the Church [founded by Christ]. A properly formed conscience would at least take steps to determine the morality of the topic, ask and answer questions that get to the heart of the issue, seek quidance from those who would help formulate the questions and analyze the answers for honesty.

Morality is not easy and yes, Christians often fail. However, the first failure [that leads to many others] comes from neglecting the conscience and substituting personal opinion and ‘feelings’. The Sixties were full of that message… “if it feels good; do it”

The act of fullfilling selfish desires without regard to the needs and well being of those around us is the root of the most dissasterous harm to society…

Well, we are all entitled to our opinions.

Well, we are all entitled to our opinions.
But when a Catholic asks for the Catholic (TRUE) teaching in any area we have no right (as Catholics) to advise someone contrary to what the Church says, or to approve what the Church has forbidden.:tsktsk:

People are gonna have different views of what would and would not endanger one’s soul.
People may but the Church does not. We don’t get to create God it’s God who created us. He gave us the Church and as Catholics we follow church teaching, not “people’s views”. Artificial insemination is wrong for many reasons. What’s done is done, but we can not advocate going against the church for the sake of “following your heart.”

Yes, I totally agree that you are entitled to your opinions.

But, opinion is not a moral truth. Opinion is subject to change on a whim and as a person’s personal preferences, desires, life experiences, etc change. Opinion is by its very nature “RELATIVE” and leads to MORAL RELATIVISM which is of course a moral evil.

Perfection is a trait that is Godly, and it is that perfection we are calld to strive for by our Lord, Jesus. He [Jesus] instructs us to *'be perfect as the Father is perfect" *We cannot even get close to that perfection if we allow ourselves to be like wind socks - blowing this way and that way by our ‘opinions’.

We are called to form a Christian conscience. To deny ourselves and submit to the Lord. One whay we submit is to be members of the Church founded by Christ and to listen to the teachings that flow from that Church. We submit ourselves to our Bishops as scripture tells us to.

So freely have your opinion, just don’t confuse it with a properly formed conscience…
