Moslems are going to be gathering in some park (sorry for the poor ‘detail’) this Saturday to rally in support of the Sheikh.
Big surprise.Moslems are going to be gathering in some park (sorry for the poor ‘detail’) this Saturday to rally in support of the Sheikh.
It was on tonight’s news. They said that they hope it will be peaceful. They’re sending the message around by SMSBig surprise.
Interesting. When Muslims do an SMS, it’s a rally to support someone. It was on tonight’s news. They said that they hope it will be peaceful. They’re sending the message around by SMS
You’re always so selective in your news reports. Have you been following France lately?Interesting. When Muslims do an SMS, it’s a rally to support someone.
The last time there was an SMS campaign in Sydney, it was a bunch of messages about how Australians should rally together as whites in order to kill/beat/drive out all the brown people. And they did gather in large mobs in cronulla to just that: beat on any brown people they saw.
I’d rather be white and at any Muslim rally in Sydney than be brown and stuck in the white-power mobs that were running around Cronulla.
For those many of you outside Australia this is the event to which our resident Moslem apologist refers to.I’d rather be white and at any Muslim rally in Sydney than be brown and stuck in the white-power mobs that were running around Cronulla.
Indeed. Both riots were horrible and violent. However only one has resulted in one community being rapped over the knuckles, whilst the Moslem one just pretends it’s always the victimThe cronella riots were fueled by an innocent life guard who was beaten by young men of middle eastern appreance. Attacks of aggression by middle eastern youths happen like that all the time in cronulla, and the young community had had enough of it. the original protest was suppsoed to be peaceful but an excess of alcohol by midday caused a shameful disaster on the australians part. The muslim youths also had there sms of retaliation and sadly that also turned violent. So pro dont act stupid, you know the full story yet you always seem to leave half out.
yeh thats true. The boy who had “we grew here you flew here” painted on his chest publicly apologised and was fired from his job.Indeed. Both riots were horrible and violent. However only one has resulted in one community being rapped over the knuckles, whilst the Moslem one just pretends it’s always the victim
thanx ella for your comment,Dear Exclamation Mark, what part of the world are you from and where do you live now, if a different place from where you were born?
Welcome, by the way. You sort of put your head in an oven by coming here - there is alot of anger here. But I thank you for coming here…
Most lebanese expats are Christian. How do we know that these attackers were Muslims? The cronella riots were fueled by an innocent life guard who was beaten by young men of middle eastern appreance.
Oh yeah. Those white supremacists were not even racist until the week of the cronulla attacks, and then they magically started believing that only whites should be in Australia.Attacks of aggression by middle eastern youths happen like that all the time in cronulla, and the young community had had enough of it.
Are you kidding? White supremacists who started beating any brown person they saw were just “having a good time with the family” and then suddenly transformed into racists? I don’t buy it for a second.the original protest was suppsoed to be peaceful but an excess of alcohol by midday caused a shameful disaster on the australians part.
Yeah, except there was no “Islamic” retaliation movement. Most of the Lebanese who participate in crime and violence are CHRISTIAN expatriates from Lebanon, not Muslims, so this is untrue. The muslim youths also had there sms of retaliation and sadly that also turned violent. So pro dont act stupid, you know the full story yet you always seem to leave half out.
Most are not, and there’s no public announcement of this supposed rally yet.Boy this thread shut up in a hurry. Like I said, stick to the matter at hand. Pro was wrong; Muslims in Australia are supporting the sheikh’s statements about women and are going to have a rally of some sort.
This was the advertisment in MX. I tried to get the story from MSN, but sorry I wasnt able to.Most are not, and there’s no public announcement of this supposed rally yet.
An SMS is an cell phone’s text message. That was Montalban’s “proof” that this is going to occur.
Hilaly rallies 'must be peaceful’
November 01, 2006 04:30pm
THE New South Wales Police Minister John Watkins has said authorities will not tolerate violent behaviour at rallies held in support of embattled Sheik Taj al-Din al-Hilaly.
Yesterday, members of Sydney’s Muslim community sent thousands of text messages urging a non-violent rally outside the Lakemba mosque in the city’s south-west on Saturday. Another may be organised for Friday.
The sheik has been under pressure to resign after he compared scantily clad women to uncovered meat, saying they invited sexual assault.
He was released from hospital today after he collapsed on Monday during a meeting over his future. He has insisted he will not resign from his position as mufti.
The sheik’s spokesman Keysar Trad said the besieged Muslim cleric left Bankstown Hospital early this morning and had gone to an undisclosed location to continue his recuperation.
The 65-year-old sheik collapsed during a meeting with Lebanese Muslim Association president Tom Zreika and was rushed to hospital by ambulance. Mr Trad said he was now in good spirits and well enough to leave hospital.
Although he gave his strongest indication he would consider quitting in a written statement on Monday, his daughter yesterday said he was adamant he would stay on.
Text messages spread across Sydney called for a show of support this Saturday for Sheik Hilaly. One described the planned rally as “a critical day to show our solidarity and to silence the hypocrites!”
Police Minister John Watkins said officers would have sufficient resources in place to deal with any outbreaks of violence.
“Police will do their job on Friday or Saturday,” he said.
“They’ll be there in numbers. If there’s anti-social or criminal behaviour they will take action. There is no place for a softly, softly approach here.”
Many Muslims had already said they wanted to ensure any rally in support of Sheik Hilaly was peaceful and did not turn into a “flag burning” by an angry mob.
One message sender feared a repeat of the scenes at the Lakemba mosque on the night of the Cronulla riots, when fights broke out during a rally.
“Last thing we need is another display like what was seen outside Lakemba mosque on the night of the riots,” the message implored.
Mr Zreika said last night the rally had not been officially organised by the association and “mixed messages” were being sent about what day the protest would take place.
“We will get some protesters on Friday coming up to Lakemba mosque and chanting for him (Sheik Hilaly) to come back,” Mr Zreika said.
“Friday is our Sabbath so it’s more likely to be then.”
Other messages called on Muslims to support their besieged cleric at a protest at Parry Park near Lakemba Mosque on Saturday at 1pm.
Mr Zreika is urging that any show of support for Shiek Hilaly be peaceful.
When the shouted al-lah akabar, it gave them away. Most lebanese expats are Christian. How do we know that these attackers were Muslims?
That goes for you too, Montalban. You call the attackers Muslim. How do you know?
Again, I have to remind you of your own rule. You whinged for about a week about non-Moslems commenting on Islam. You are not Australian. Therefore by your own rule of exclusiong, you’re not permitted to comment UNLESS you now disavow that ruleGive me a break. Cronulla is a hotbed of racism, and Australia has a serious problem with racism. You might even call it a racist country, what with the number of votes Pauline Hanson got. But you wouldn’t expect to be stereotyped as a racist would you? I think that’s completely unfair. So why stereotype middle easterners based on what one Sheikh says?
You live in this country. You’d have to turn on a tv to know about this. Most are not, and there’s no public announcement of this supposed rally yet.
