The problems expanded when Pro_universal (who claims he’s not Moslem) said that the Sheikh’s comments were not indicative of Islamic thought.

This was debunked by two other Sheikhs coming out and supporting him; plus the ‘rally’ of support that was to be, but now not to be for fear of violence.

I mention his ‘claim’ about his faith simply because he believes non-Moslems have no right to comment on Islam, but does so himself.

He seems to be the only one exempt from this rule. :o Unless he forgot it

Even when others cite nothing but evidence from Moslems, they’re apparently not qualified to do this (cite the evidence).

Truly remarkable religion Islam. Truly remarkable!
 
Eerrm…the Pope recently was slandered by the incorrect and sensationalising of a conference with references to historical documents…so why would the media correctly report an Islamic leader’s conference…it is out of context of course…

That is a fair question and a good point, Melanie. I didn’t read a transcript of the entire speech. I don’t know if it was taken out of context.

Is there a transcript of the speech available online?

Not to my knowledge…whilst his descriptives were pretty tasteless, I actually have some sympathy to what he was saying about inapropriately dressed women, we get sermons on dress at my church too. Whether or not he condoned attack is another thing entirely. You can wear the chador and still be raped, you can be male…

A WOMAN who described herself as a rape victim today defended the mufti of Australia, Sheik Taj al-Din al-Hilaly, saying his controversial comments did not mean he justified rape.

Cindy Taylor walked with the sheik down the steps of Sydney’s Lakemba Mosque after prayers today, before speaking to reporters.

The sheik has been at the centre of controversy since likening immodestly dressed women to uncovered meat and suggesting they invited sexual assault.

Ms Taylor said she understood what the sheik had tried to say, and called on Australians to be more open-minded.

“He was not being politically correct. But, he’s not a politician, he’s a philosophical leader,” she said.

"He’s a wonderful man and his analogy certainly did not justify the act of rape.

“He believes that the act of rape is one of the worst capital crimes in Islam.”

Ms Taylor said she had been raped twice, when she was 14 and 30, but no one was ever charged.

She said was raised a Christian who had developed an interest in Islam.

Sheik al-Hilaly yesterday said he would resign if an impartial panel found him guilty of inciting rape.

what kind of woman is she the one who thinks that women are satan’s tool and that women are meat?? it’'s sick ! God created man/woman in His image!! the sheikh is correct regarding modesty…but the way he portrayed women is sick and contradicts God’s word.

I think they’re quite different. wearing a crucifix is done because it’s a way to show the faith. Wearing immodest clothes are nothing of the faith. Any faith. In fact many wear immodest clothes to intentionally bring about carnal desires from the opposite sex (I wish to exclude the ones forced to dress immodestly such as the forced prostitutes etc.).

Too bad the people they attract are more than the ones they intended and sometimes it leads to rape. The only reason its rape is coz the ones that take action to their temptations are the ones they don’t like to be attracted to them.

Do you see naked aborigines in wild africa getting raped? No yah? They can walk about stark naked and nothing happens. Why? Cos the males do not have such filthy minds.

Sex, and no responsibility for one’s actions. Your sex desires are the woman’s fault for forcing you to want to rape her.
 
In all muslim countries, the muslim women are all covered. If this were not taught in islam, would islamic women cover themselves?

Clearly, then muslimahs must veil themselves according to islam.

One must ask WHY?! And if the women are not dressed fully, does it mean the women must be responsible for the lusts of the muslim men? Muhammad had many many women (up to 13 wives besides those that he forcibly raped). Muslim men are promised up to 72 virgins for sex in islamic heaven.

Again, these are not lies. They are islamic TEACHINGS. And I can qualify them if you wish.

Now, question is, why cover up? The problem is muhammad. Muhammd was so lustful that a slight peek at a woman’s bare flesh would stir up his beastial instincts and he would blatantly rape the woman and then claim his actions to be following allah’s instruction to teach the woman a lesson for dressing skimpily. Thereafter, no muslim women dared to show themselves.

Now, if you go to wild Africa, none of the totally naked african females ever get raped! This is very telling indeed.

This tells you that the arabs are beastly people, so full of lusts that they even want sex after death. Christians (and adherents of other non-ROP religions) should be proud of their negative correlation between the proportion of their numbers and the occurrence of sex offenses.
