They ALL annoy me. The worst offenders:
S. Sarandon
T. Robbins
S. Penn
A. Jolie
G. Clooney
B. Streisand
R. O’Donnel

And the one-namers:
Oprah
Madonna

While the young celebs like L. Lohan and P. Hilton are annoying in their ubiquitousness, they don’t provoke my ire like the one’s who express their political opinions ad nauseam.
I think what annoys me most is the fact that most of these folks are high school drop outs that pretend they are nearly as educated as the politicians they criticize. Most of whom have graduated from schools such as Harvard, Yale or Princeton.

I realize that an Ivy league education doesn’t automatically mean they are correct but education should at least make one think twice.

Really, who knows more about foreign policy, a trained politician or an ex-waitress?

All of the above plus … Conan O’Brien (not funny) Katie Couric JLO McCain All of the Bushes All of the Clintons

**OMG, you mean someone on the planet, besides me, finds Oprah annoying?

Also, anyone who is a celebrity with no merit - Paris Hilton comes to mind.

Anyone who has become famous from “reality” television. Although some like Chris Daughtrey, Carrie Underwood and others from American Idol who have made good music are the exception.**

Yes. Exactly.

They also don’t live in the real world like the rest of us who has to worry about retirement, taxes, health insurance, mortagages and so on.

Oh, and I’d like to add Jennifer Lopez, “JLo” if you will to my list of grievances. She has ordered courture hospital gowns for her C-Section AND she has 3 nurseries decorated by Petite Tresor (VERY expensive). Why 3 you ask? One for both babies to share, then when they get older they’ll have their own. Ughhhh, so annoying! These people have so much money they don’t even know what to do with it anymore.

I find Brad Pitt to be annoying.

Oprah, used to be interesting about 15 years ago, but her fame and fortune have gone to her head. Seems like her studio audience almost worships her.

Every single rapper on the face of the planet. Would these guys please learn to speak correct english, get a mirror so they could see how dumb their clothes look, and actually wake up one day and discover that rap is not music, just noise.
There are actually quite a few celebrities (Bono, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, ect) that I truely admire and respect.

Oprah
J. Leno
Tom Cruse (but now I just kinda feel sorry for him)
Katie Curic
All of The View women
Paris Hilton
Britney Spears (really just feel sorry for her now)
Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie
Alec Baldwin
Barbara Streisand
Jane Fonda
Demi Moore
JLo
P. Ditti and pretty much all rappers
Ben Afleck
George Clooney
Robin Williams, definately!
Regis and Kelly and all morning “news” hosts
almost all TV anchormen and women (cable and network)
CHRIS MATTHEWS !!!
Bill O’Reily
and John McCain

I’m sure I’ll think of more later.

Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera
Nicole Kidman (says she’s Catholic but she posed for Playboy and acted in the anti-Christian movie The Golden Compass)
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Paris Hilton
Demi Moore
Ellen DeGeneres (proud lesbian)
Melissa Etheridge (proud lesbian)
… I’ll add more when I remember!!!

When you read the biography of many famous people it is surprising how uneducated many are. Now an uneducated person can be self taught and be intelligent. But I am always surprised that the media reports the quotes of famous people as though they are all geniuses or experts in various field.

I honestly think that there are some movie stars who believe that if they play a part in a movie that they become an expert on the social conditions that surrond that character. So, playing a part about a housemaid makes an actress an expert on anything effecting housemaids, including wages, work and unjust employers.🤷
I think celebrities are the dumbest people on earth. The majority of them anyway. They’re only good at what they do but other than that, what do they know ?? Most of them never finish high school.
And when they speak, people listen. Now that is annoying ! :juggle:

I believe it was her mother’s name, too.
I’ve been annoyed with Madonna since the 80s, when she said that the Crucifix was sexy because there was a naked man hanging on it.
Susan Sarandon, for speaking at an abortion rally when she herself was about 6 months pregnant.
Julia Roberts for speaking as though every word that falls from her lips is some fort of holy nugget of wisdom.
Michael Moore for . . . well, need I say “moore”?
And, just about every other celeb listed so far.

Please be careful about claiming that the celebs haven’t been educated.

Susan Sarandon is a graduate of Catholic University of Washington, D.C. (imdb.com/name/nm0000215/bio)

George Clooney studied for a few years at Northern Kentucky University. (imdb.com/name/nm0000123/bio)

Madonna received a scholarship to University of Michigan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna_(entertainer and attendedor two years.

etc. Not all of the celebs on that list earned a college degree, but in the entertainment industry, school is not always a requirement. If you are in the right place at the right time, you may be better off to take the opportunity.

I don’t think we should make untrue statements about celebs (or about anyone, for that matter). Quite a few celebs have earned college degrees.

here are the one I can’t stomach:
Britney Spears
Alec Baldwin
Rosie O’Donnell
Paris Hilton
HILLARY CLINTON AND BILL CLINTON
John Edwards

I don’t care for them, but I pray for the Hollywood types . they are so screwed up. I lived in L.A. for seventeen years and met a few in my day. Oh Boy!

Which celebrities annoy you the most.
My picks: Tom Cruise
Hillary Clinton
Michael Moore (really, the guy should just leave us alone and move to France)
Agreed. But what about the loudmouth duo of Sarandon and Robbins? Honestly there are waaayyyy too many others to name! I’d do better if I had to compile a list of “Celebrities Who Are Slightly Less Annoying Than Most.”

Agreed. There are some educated celebrities but the vast majority aren’t. Many haven’t even finished highschool.

I’d like to point out that getting a scholarship as Madonna did, is not the same as being educated. You have to actually attend college for the scholarship to have any value.

If I was going to prove that some celebrities were educated then I would put up a long list of celebrities who have finished college, not a list of one college graduate, a drop out and someone who didn’t use their scholarship at all.

The funny thing is that I am positive that there are celebrities who have finished college, your list was just bad and easy to tear apart.😃 (The girl from Wonder Years, majored in math)

I would like to point out that some very intelligent people don’t finish college, or even highschool. I’ve known of people who simply read alot and gain knowledge that way. So, I am not saying that only college educated people should be able to speak.

But there are so many in the media who are willing to act as though the words of celebrity have deep meaning that pointing out that most celebrities are even less educated then the rest of us is an appropriate thing to do.🤷

By the way, I am as educated as George Clooney! 😛

Madonna DID attend college through her sophomore year.

I agree that celebrities really have no business making statements about subjects that they know little or nothing about. What does Sharon Stone really know about HIV? Or Barbra Streisand about war and terrorism?

A few years ago, John McCain was the guest on Saturday Night Live. He did a skit where he presented his debut album of various hit songs. He was a pretty awful singer.

But the punch line of the skit was–“I know nothing about singing so I’ll stick to politics. And Barbra Streisand knows nothing about politics and should stick to singing.”

It was a very good skit with a good thoughtful conclusion that I agree with. The celebrities are knowledgeable about acting, writing, dancing, singing, art, etc. I respect their knowledge.

But most celebrities are NOT knowledgeable about politics, medicine, terrorism, religion, etc. They should not be presented as “experts” in these areas.

OTOH, there ARE celebrities who have, for some reason, a claim to expertise on these issues. I read some very interesting facts about Gene Simmons of KISS:

*He graduated State University (NYSU) and City University (CUNY) and got a Bachelor of Education degree.

He taught sixth grade in Spanish Harlem in New York City.

He then became the Assistant to the Director of the Puerto Rican InterAgency Council, a government funded research and demonstration project.*

What this tells me is that yes, Gene Simmons DOES have knowledge about education issues and Hispanic issues, and I would be willing to listen to his ideas and give them some merit should he decide to speak up on these issues.

We shouldn’t be too quick to reject “celebrities” and their ideas. Check to see if the ideas have merit first, and if the person making the comments really does have any background or education. We really should do that with anyone who speaks out about issues.

Another positive an uplifting thread I see!

How disapointing…😦
