Most annoying misconception of the Catholic Church?

What’s the most annoying constant or popular misconception about the Church?
 
:crying::banghead: I don’t know where they get it. I think Catholicism and Christianity pretty much encompasses them all. When I hear it, I try to hold off the laughter. Same with all of them.
 
Definitely that all priests are perverts who abuse little boys. That is a terrible misconception.
 
That we are totally brainwashed, ignorant, medieval clods who wish to force our man-made superstitions onto the ‘real Christians’ and that absolutely NOTHING in our Church is remotely Christian. . .
 
i voted the most annoying misconception of the Catholic Church is all priest are pedophiles and i dont get how people can call themselves Christians but not be Catholic cause after i converted i felt like ive never truly understood God until being Catholic
 
That we are irrational fairytale-believing bird-brains. Honestly this is probably what kept me from the Church for a while.
 
It always has bothered me that a lot of people think Catholics aren’t Christians…usually because they believe we worship Mary, but sometimes for other things. Jesus Christ founded our Church…not some dude.
 
That’s really pathetic to blame every priests. When you say Roman Catholic Church you address a big family of followers of Jesus. It is not some township or other churches. They run it like family business. They never proclaim gospel beyond their house perimeter and use all their time to blame catholic church. They never run a missionary. They talk about Charity and donations but, i never ever hear about any Charitable institution they are running.

I really do not want to blame some countries for what happened. They failed before God.
They may have this intentions before becoming a priest.
If something happens to my family i will never run away, besides i stay and help my family to recover from its mistake.
Roman Catholic Church is not for some cowards or opportunist its only for the brave, who can stand against evil.
Roman Catholic Church is a hospital for sicks and discarded peoples…
 
I personally don’t believe any of misconceptions, but there are some in the Catholic Church during Pope John Paul’s reign that wanted him to use Papal infallibility to declare Mary as Co-Redemptrix. This would have widen the gulf between Lutherans and Catholics and maybe the E.O.
As far as All priests are pedophiles, there are problems with Protestants pastors too, Just because one is accused, that doesn’t all. The rest are not worthy of bringing up.:signofcross:
 
Catholics worship Mary and statues.

Even when I was Methodist. I knew this wasn’t true.
 
As a non-Catholic who has attended mass with my Catholic wife for several years, I have to agree that the most ridiculous misconception about the Catholic Church is that all priests are running around abusing children.
 
There’s also the annoying misconception that Constantine started the Roman Catholic Church. But, that’s evidently a non-starter and pretty low on the apologetics pecking order.
 
Mine is the misconception of the history of the Church and the Bible. Everything from the Church chained the Bible in the Church in order to keep in out of he hands of the people to the Church didn’t want the Bible to be in the vernacular. It hurts my head every time I read things along those lines.
