Most annoying misconception of the Catholic Church?

I’ve never heard the Catholic/Christian one in real life.

I think maybe the pedophile one is the worst. I think the historical ones are pretty annoying too, but the pedophile priest thing is really hurtful to many individuals.
 
The MOST annoying misconception is widespread within the Church itself:

Orthodox Christianity departed from the Roman Catholic Church in 1054.
 
That Catholics don’t believe in the Resurrection, because they still have Jesus on the cross.
 
I was actually having a conversation with a non-Catholic, trying to explain why we pray to Mary and the saints. She was having a really hard time understanding it, so I paused to rack my brains for another explanation. Then, something clicked, and I said, “We don’t worship Mary.” She replied, “Ohhh, you don’t?” She understood it after that.

I’ve also had to tell someone we don’t worship wafers…
 
Another one is that the pope is as a god when people look at the issue of infallibility.
 
I’ve mostly heard that the Church is backwards, sexist, closed-minded, and hateful towards homosexuals.

That Catholics worship saints/Mary. I had to explain to my mom that Catholics don’t worship saints about a week ago. I mean, if Catholics did, then Orthodox do, then 75% of Christianity does, then only Protestantism is Christian, etc.

Only less than 1% of priests are actually pedophile…have to watch that secular media…

Biggest abuser of sex, women, children, human life is the secular.

Absolutely, and even the sex abuse within the Catholic Church is mostly adult. It’s a really annoying media misrepresentation.:mad:

They probably say the same thing about Lutherans too or they say that Lutherans are too Catholic because our Divine Service is very close to the Mass and we have crucifixes too. I have one on a wall in my house.:signofcross:

I would have voted for two if I could, but I didn’t. My votes would be for A) Catholics Worship Mary and B) Catholics aren’t Christians.

To be deep in history…!
 
What am I meaning…

Pick up your local newspaper, watch the news on tv…and look at all the abuse happening in public schools, in rental homes – human trafficking, pornography and its use of women who many came from sexually abusive homes, wars, rich vs poor…this is a secular problem of the world, not the Catholic Church.

Constantine being the founder of the Roman Catholic Church is held by many Protestants as to why they are right in being separate from the RCC.

  2. Catholic doctrine is made up of the human traditions and anything that the Pope says.
  3. Catholics believe the Pope is God.
  4. Catholics worship Mary and any other Saints that the Pope tells them to.
  5. Catholics don’t believe in Christ.
  6. Catholics go to church (Mass) on Saturday night so that they can get drunk later that night, then go to Confession to get rid of the sin.
  7. Catholics believe that priests can get you out of Hell.
  8. Catholics pray the Rosary; they are the babbling pagans that Christ condemns in Matthew 6:7.
  9. Catholics got rid of the 2nd Commandment so that they could worship statues.
  10. Catholics worship crackers. :mad::mad::mad:
 
I’d say the most annoying one is that all priests are pedophiles. The misconception that Catholicism and Christianity are totally different religions is pretty annoying too though.
