After a brief hiatus, some parishioners at San Francisco’s Most Holy Redeemer Church apparently plan to return to full participation in this year’s ‘Gay Pride’ parade.

In 2008, it appeared that the Archdiocese of San Francisco had finally cracked down and forced the parish to cease its longtime participation in the parade – although Most Holy Redeemer pastor Fr. Steven Meriwether said parishioners had chosen not to participate in the parade of their own volition.

“It is really just our response to… well, we’re tired of the hate mail,” said Fr. Meriwether in 2008. “The parishioners see their participation in the parade as an evangelical outreach, but they don’t enjoy being called nasty names either. This wasn’t because of any request from the archdiocese.”
