Agreeing 100% about supporting the African Union, this would seem a more deserving cause and help build political resistance against extremist nations

It does not follow that ALL Muslim countries are bad just as not all Muslims are. It is also forcast that population increase means that by 2100, Britain will be a Muslim country. Does this mean that Uncle Sam would not come to our aid if we were most in need of it!
Britain is only 3% Muslim. If it allows itself to be majority Muslim then it does not deserve US support. How many times do we have to save Britain? We have done it twice already in the past century. That’s enough. You can’t save people from their own folly. I think the British people won’t be going Islamic - the reaction will come as the Brits are slow to anger but will take firm action when they are forced to. What we’re seeing is just British tolerance that the Muslims are exploiting.

Sixtus:
Experience shows that only fuels terrorism. As fast as you elimiate one, you help create two more at the expense of your own troops, which in my view is a price too dear to pay.
It’s a case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Staying the course isn’t slowing terrorism down any either. Hence I think they can sort their own problems out - we only need to engage in punitive actions with limited strategic goals. Our public’s ability to withstand casualty is very low indeed. Israeli losses during the first 7 days of the Yom Kippur war far exceeded that experienced by the US in all the years of our Iraq engagement - just to put things into perspective.
Unfortunately we have destabilised the region, we now have a duty to remain until law and order is restored.
I disagree. The Muslims want us to leave. We should leave. Our present strategy is not working. President Hillary Clinton will make us leave anyway.

I advocate disengagement and repatriation and a new global strategy towards Muslims. That way we should aim to limit the impact of terrorism on ourselves.

I agree 100% no, 110%. But sadly we are at the mercy of left-wing politicians who the furtherst they can see it seems it nearly to the end of their noses and often seem hell bent on destroying the very society and culture that elected them to office.

Legislation which harms Britain, the politicians should be locked in the Tower and their treason punished, but that is only my humble view.

I agree with you 100%. IN fact I get quite emotional about the subject and abhorr anti-Americanism, but sadly some folk too the furthest they can see it the end of their noses.

In my view, American interventionism should be compulsorily taught in all schools but that is considered by some in Whitehall to be politically incorrect. 😦

When we were on our knees America should have granted aid on the condition Britain became absorbed into the United States of America, there would not have been a need for a third intervention. That would also have guarranteed our future and protection of American interests in Europe, but sadly that did not happen 😦

In Britian we have no discernable consititution and we are at the mercy of media interests and pressure groups all of whom have their own agendas and the power to hold the country to ransom against the greater good. The nearest we had to a constitution was Magna Carta but sadly Tony Blair had that abolished, God knows why. We lost a lot of potential freedom when Magna Carta was abolished. 😦

Our politicians are hell bent on giving power to minority groups even when it hurts the majority. Some of us are absolutely sick of it, but what can we do, but cast our vote which is probably a complete waste of time against such overwhelmingly stupid left-wing power and influence. 😦

Formum admin, I apologise for the last post being off thread, but I think the arguements relevant to the subject being discussed. 🙂

Suicide bombing, like terror are only tactics of war…

We really need to be calling this homicide bombing because the purpose is not to commit suicide but to kill as many people, usually innocents, as possible…
Exactly!!!

We really need to be calling this homicide bombing because the purpose is not to commit suicide but to kill as many people, usually innocents, as possible. The bomber gets killed because it is the only way their sick pea brains can think of to deliver the explosive package. They have very deficient imaginations.
Exactly.

The press calls it “suicide bombing” and Moslems can justifiably then point to their teachings that say suicide is against their faith.

However, martydom is not.

Suicide is something you do if you’re depressed, etc. and lost hope. Moslems who blow people up are filled with hope that what they’re doing is the work of their god.

Here we go again, lets all gang up on Muslims.

Let us first deny them their humanity by labelling them all suicide bombers, then it is ok to persecute suicide bombers because of course they are all the same and being such, are not human.

Once labelled as ‘sick’ ‘in-human’ and ‘evil’ it is then much more easily justifiable to deliver even bigger evil to kill evil.

In the absence of witches and freemasons being largely inaccessible, I guess Muslims are as good a target as any.

I wonder what Christ would say in response to this thread!!!
Christ would never condone evil!

Why do you keep defending Islam and Muslims? Let them defend themselves.

Do you really believe that people who go by these teachings, can really be peaceful or merciful? IMHO Muslims give up their humanity when they embrace Islam!

Ali Sina has stated it so well:

:“By condoning Islam and condemning those who criticize it, not only you are complacent about radical Islam you actually validate and legitimize it. What you need to understand is that Islam and radical Islam is one and the same thing. Muslims never make such a distinction. This dichotomy is something the westerners have invented. You are stuck with a false notion that Islam is something good which some of its followers have misinterpreted. This is a myth, a vacuous cliché. It is not true at all. Islam is evil to its core. It is akin to Nazism. It is a cult more dangerous than the cult of Jim Jones and David Koresh. Muhammad was a terrorist no better than Charles Manson, Shoko Asahara and Joseph Koni. The only reason he succeeded is because he came in a place where there was no central government to stop his forays and he raided, looted and massacred with impunity”

By the way, did you ever find out who vandalized the corpus of Jesus on the cross in the garden of your church?

Because I have met very spiritual men and women whose spirituality, dedication to prayer, peace and good- will to all humanity, are Muslims 🙂

In Catholicism I have met many holy and saintly people but the most devoted and committed to prayer and love that I have ever met was a Muslim, that is why.

My experience living with Muslims is that they have no love for disbelievers. You won’t find the word “love” in the Quran which is all about hate, fear, punishment and submission.

So because Oskar Schindler was a good man, but also a Nazi, you’d defend Nazism?

Exceptions make rules?🤷

Can you provide quotes from the Qu’ran about love and holiness and saintliness? Does the word “love” even exist in the Qu’ran? Is God love in Islam?

Oh, here’s one:

God loves not the al-kafireen, the unbelievers.

In the following verse, the intensive form of the word is used to indicate one who is an inveterate unbeliever. One who practices the rejection of truth. The use of ungrateful falls short of the intensive meaning of the Arabic word. 2:276 Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: For He loveth [hubb] not creatures ungrateful and wicked. [kul kffar]

3:32 Say: “Obey Allah and His Apostle”: But if they turn back, Allah loveth [hubb] not those who reject Faith. [al kafireen] 30:45 That He may reward those who believe and work righteous deeds, out of His Bounty. For He loves [hubb] not those who reject Faith. [al-kafireen]

**See, allah doesn’t love the unbelievers.

What a contrast to the God we know in Christianity.

I have no knowledge of that so must take your word for it.

I am aware a few years ago, attended a course of higher ed and the graduation ceremony was held in a local non-Catholic Anglican Cathedral as it provided an excellent back drop to the occasion. Though staunchly [Roman] Catholic, had not problems with it as it is all about tolerance, love, respect and religious tolerance.

Two Muslims refused to attend their own graduation because it was held in a Church. I was really surprised at that as I would have attended had it been held in a Mosque. That was a bit of a shock to me. That actually spoke volumes to me about Islam per se, prejudice and lack of tolerance. So guess you are right.

I am aware that contrasts with the Bible which is basically a love story of the love of the Creator for His creation.

If I had to sum up the Bible in a single word, I would use the word ‘LOVE!’ 🙂

This implies that there’s such a thing as a ‘local Catholic Anglican Cathedral’. Is this so?

Islam’s an amazing philosophy. It’s a belief in a god that does whatever it wishes to do, and one must simply submit to the will of this god. Not all who submit will be saved. It’s quite strange that someone would want to even contemplate a supreme being that is so arbitrary. They’re a system not of love (as you point out) but simply obedience.

In England, there is a branch of the Church of England which is ‘high’ Church. They are for all intent and purpose Catholic. They use the SAME Office, Morning Evening and Night Prayer, pray the Rosary and Liturgy to the Saints, what they call ‘Mass’. They have a tabernacle and revere the Blessed Sacrament-to varying degrees.

Some are more ‘high’ or Catholic than others, but If you went into one of their Church’s you would not know you were not in an authentic Apostolic [Roman] Catholic Church.

It is said the only difference between them and us is ‘they are more smells and bells than we are’. Most also submit to Rome.

I do not know why they are not fully integrated in the Apostolic Catholic Church, but for reasons I know not, they are not, their Orders still regarded as invalid.

They also provide a lot of converts to our Church. Our local Catholic Deacon has very good dialogue with them. He is also well respected by them.

They do not however attract all the vehemence that is directed to the authentic Apostolic Roman Catholic Church so there might lie the key to the differences between us. Satan obviously does not regard them as such a threat and put it in the mind of men to attack us 😛

I’d know by virtue of the fact it’s not a Catholic church.

That’s false. There was the pretence made by Henry VIII that he was simply head of the “Catholic Church of England” but they’re in no way under Roman authority.
I do not know why they are not fully integrated in the Apostolic Catholic Church, but for reasons I know not, they are not,

Because they’re a distinct church not under Roman authority

Then they’re a distinct church, unless you have conversions within a church???

The only ‘good’ Muslim countries I can think of is Bahrain, Kuwait and maybe the United Arab Emirates. Can you think of anymore?

Islam’s God is one that while it may be monotheistic, and correct on that point, is wrong on many others. They make God out to be someone who created us to be His personal servants. This would make God needy – God didn’t create us to be His servants, but to love Him and choose good of our own free will.

It is also puzzling to me how Islam can continue to call us “unbelievers” when the Qur’an quite clearly calls us “People of the Book”. Isn’t this just a little bit contradictory?

If we already have the Book (and the correct one at that), then why is it that I need to accept Muhammad as the last Prophet when he offered no proof to his prophethood except for his claim? At least Jesus had 12 apostles, which is much more than is needed to decide in a court of law the truth.

Now Moslems on this thread are gonna claim that they believe in Jesus, but they do not. They believe in an idea that is close to our Jesus… a man that merely submitted to the will of Allah who raised Him to Heaven and placed Judas the apostate in his place at the crucifixion. Muhammad covered all points to get people to accept him as the last Prophet instead of Jesus. It’s hard to refute these claims when you’ve been brainwashed all your life by this Christian heresy.

Sixtus, apparently you haven’t been to any Catholic retreats or Catholic/Orthodox monasteries. These religious men and women wake up at 4 in the morning and don’t go to bed till 9 pm and their whole day is in service to God and His Church.

Moslems merely parrot prayers they were ‘commanded’ to by Muhammad at specific times throughout the day.

Most suicide bombers are Muslim

Suicide missions are not always religiously motivated, but according to Oxford University sociologist Diego Gambetta, editor of Making Sense of Suicide Missions, when religion is involved, the attackers are always Muslim. Why? The surprising answer is that Muslim suicide bombing has nothing to do with Islam or the Quran (except for two lines). It has a lot to do with sex, or, in this case, the absence of sex.

What distinguishes Islam from other major religions is that it tolerates polygyny. By allowing some men to monopolize all women and altogether excluding many men from reproductive opportunities, polygyny creates shortages of available women. If 50 percent of men have two wives each, then the other 50 percent don’t get any wives at all.

So polygyny increases competitive pressure on men, especially young men of low status. It therefore increases the likelihood that young men resort to violent means to gain access to mates. By doing so, they have little to lose and much to gain compared with men who already have wives. Across all societies, polygyny makes men violent, increasing crimes such as murder and rape, even after controlling for such obvious factors as economic development, economic inequality, population density, the level of democracy, and political factors in the region.

However, polygyny itself is not a sufficient cause of suicide bombing. Societies in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean are much more polygynous than the Muslim nations in the Middle East and North Africa. And they do have very high levels of violence. Sub-Saharan Africa suffers from a long history of continuous civil wars—but not suicide bombings.

The other key ingredient is the promise of 72 virgins waiting in heaven for any martyr in Islam. The prospect of exclusive access to virgins may not be so appealing to anyone who has even one mate on earth, which strict monogamy virtually guarantees. However, the prospect is quite appealing to anyone who faces the bleak reality on earth of being a complete reproductive loser.

It is the combination of polygyny and the promise of a large harem of virgins in heaven that motivates many young Muslim men to commit suicide bombings. Consistent with this explanation, all studies of suicide bombers indicate that they are significantly younger than not only the Muslim population in general but other (nonsuicidal) members of their own extreme political organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. And nearly all suicide bombers are single.

However, while that may be true at present, it has not always been so.

  • 1. The IRA were planting bombs in London long before Muslim bombers did so. If that does not prove the malign character of Irish Catholics - why must Islamist atrocities prove the malign character of Islam as a whole ?
  • 2. Historical & moral judgements are often made about evils which turn out to be temporary - which is why Germans are no longer feared as “Nazis”, "Huns, or “the Boche”; we are now no longer at war with them, & don’t treat them as enemies: why treat Islam differently ? 3.
  • 3. The fact that there are Muslim terrorists at present, does not prove that Islam is typically terrorist, or cannot cease to be so, or is usually so, or must needs be so.
  • 4. Catholics would make these distinctions if the problem were Catholic terrorism, & would be fully justified in making them. And the same reasoning is equally valid for other religions, such as Islam.

Semper Fi, that is a very presumptious statement to make:eek:

I am well familiar with both Catholic Retreats and Religious Houses [Monasteries, Priories and Abbey’s]. I am also familiar with Zen Retreats.

I am also a regular visitor to an Austin [OSA] Priory, which is both retreat and joining in of Community Spirituality and Prayer.

It is my retreat from the world to re-charge my Spiritual batteries.

When you meet a Saintly person, you know that you have met one, as they radiate love, peace and good-will. I have met several in my life including one who was Muslim.
