Alt-media FAKE NEWS.

“Open borders”, like “world peace”, is an aspirational goal. **
It was NOT a policy of any administration or candidate. It was and is NOT a proposed policy of anyone. It is recognized as a distant goal that is contingent on a world in which there are no strong pressures that induce mass migration.

The election is over, no need to continue to spread this untrue stuff about opponents.
We see right through the efforts of the globalists to tie their pet cause with actual good.

Open borders are NOT good. World peace is good.

Germany isn’t even open borders completely, and look at the tragic disaster there (that the mainstream media won’t publish).

Most of the problems over the weekend were not caused by the underlying policy, but the chaotic and frankly incompetent way it was implemented. I disagree with the underlying policy, but it is not irrational or indefensible. But the way it was implemented was irrational and indefensible, and lead to some serious constitutional problems.

When the Secretary of Homeland Security learns that a new policy has been implemented from seeing it on TV - that is a problem. When US persons are denied substantive rights without due process - that is a constitutional problem. When none of the people charged with implementing the policy know what the policy is or how to implement it - that is a problem. When visas that have been recently granted are revoked when the traveler is in the air on the way here - that is a problem. When administration spokespeople give directly contradictory descriptions of the new policy (sometimes in the same interview) - that is a problem.

I thought one of the selling points of this administration was that Trump knows how to run organizations. This last weekend was a disaster and a gross failure of management, even if you like the actual policy.

SuperLuigi;14438390:
Odd words.
  1. I suppose I could have been more clear, but did not expect that anyone was talking about vetting that far back. The processes developed in the present time of mass migration under jihadist pressure are better that those of that time.
  2. Nothing being done by Trump is having an impact on asylum seekers from Russia - unless this really is a Muslim ban.
  3. What would have been discovered in this vetting? That a decade after arrival they would respond to seemingly conventional young adult difficulties by bombing?
If you want to be certain that no immigrant ever commits a bad act, then we must have no immigrants. And if you want to be certain that no one ever commits a bad act, then
we must be no one.

More sensibly, we might balance risks and rewards. The USh could not have become a great nation without mass immigration.
I agree. Immigration has blessed this country.

But just because there have been acts of terror by people who have passed the vetting procedures does not mean we have to do away with the vetting process.

We can minimize the risk but we can never erase it.

We can and we have. NO ONE has suggested doing away with a rigorous vetting process.

The people of Central America would like to know all of their thoughts on Mexico’s immigration policy, which is far less generous than America’s.

As far as the travel restrictions go, almost all of those began to be put in place in March of 2011, during Barack Obama’s first term.

And the reason why bishops, leaders and the general left-wing public are upset over it is because 1) Barack Obama generally gets a free pass from them and 2) they weren’t doing their homework and frankly their jobs when Barack Obama was president.
So the bishops are speaking out against this EO because they weren’t, in your view, “doing their homework and frankly their jobs when Barack Obama was president”? That is both insulting and completely illogical.

What they are doing is wrong. They could improve security measures without banning refugees who are desperately fleeing the very violence and terrorism we falsely accuse them of trying to propagate.

Yes, it is up to the Muslim world to sort out their own problems, not export problems to other places.

And what, in your view, are the Bishops “job”?

We don’t help people because they are Catholic. We help people because we are Catholic.

Do you get to decide that for other Americans? We’ve had an election and the country has elected Trump based on his campaign promises. You might want to let in as many “refugees” as possible because of your values, but this nation is not run based on your feelings.

Worth repeating:
We don’t help people because THEY are Catholic. We help people because WE are Catholic.

I know you are Catholic so go now and help as many people as you want. Except you can’t force this charitable generosity on other Americans who have voted to place their own security first. They have the prerogative to do so. Go help people but don’t malign others who are not spiritual like you. This is not the Vatican we’re talking about.

Those knots you’re tying yourself up in are gonna be hard to unwind.

I find it Ironic that you are from China and many Chinese have come to the US seeking asylum from the one child policy and from forced sterilization. What if trump halts all immigration from China? He’s not necessarily a fan of China.
