Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I’ve been attending daily mass for almost a year now, generally getting up in the wee hours of the morning, so that I could be home in time to get the kids out the door for school. DH seemed really supportive of it, at first, saying that it was a good way to jump start the day. Lately, though, I’ve been coming home to find my oldest still in her jammies eating breakfast five minutes before the carpool arrives, a LOT of yelling from DH, and the younger two in tears.

I know what I have to do…I just don’t like it. Daily Mass was my time…time that if I didn’t take before the sun was up…I just wouldn’t get. It makes me really sad to think that I have to give that up, but I don’t see any other way. 😦

What I would do: Cut back to maybe every other day and make sure that everything the children need is laid out the night before - clothes, shoes, backpacks whatever. I might even put the cereal and bowls on the table. I’d make it as simple as possible for my DH.

Have you asked him if he’s tired of doing the morning routine? Since he was supportive to begin with, I’d check back in to see if the novelty has worn off?

Bottom line, although it might be a great way for you to start your day, lots of yelling & crying doesn’t sound like a fun way for your children to start theirs. :o

Edit: I just reread your post and noticed you said you “know what I have to do” - sorry - it does sound that way. Although I wouldn’t stop going completly - maybe every other day would be enough of a break to help your husband not feel so frazzled in the AM? Maybe after you got the kids back on track he could pick back up where he left off and it would run more smoothly?

  1. Check out other parishes in your city to see if there is a daily mass later in the afternoon.
  2. Start intense dicipline with your oldest, like restriction take TV away video games etc…

Would you like some cheese with your whine?😃 Kidding. lol I don’t think you’re whining at all…I feel bad too that you’ll have to change things, but like another poster said, there could be another time later in the day while the kids are at school that you can go…I’d pursue that avenue. I think if you had one child to tend to in the morning, your dh could manage while you’re at church. But, he most likely, is trying to get ready for work…and with three, that can be tough…sorry about all that. I hope you find a happy medium that works for you all!🙂

Sounds like the ground has shifted under you somehow. Yelling by DH is not on. Tell him to grow up.

Turn to God with love for God. Do it any time of the Day. He will love it. And He will love you back!!! You will feel His Love!!!

Your husband likes the idea of you going to daily Mass, so maybe he’d like the chance to go too. Maybe you could go one month each? That way you’d both get the chance to grow in the Lord.

Also, you say ‘Daily Mass was my time’. It’s Jesus’ time. Offer it to Him, offer whatever the outcome of this whole situation to Him, whether you end up going off to Mass or staying home looking after your kids. If you are where He wants you to be, He’ll bless you more than you would ever know if you went out looking for ‘your’ time.
