If God were not behind Mother Angelica starting EWTN, it would not have succeeded.
Yes, there could be a protest, but what about this or that ministry that succeeded and was shown not to be honest.
But, so far, EWTN, and her mission has been guided by sincere people with the intention of keeping the authentic Gospel alive in modern communication.
Mother Angelica could be abrasive, but she had a child-like faith and trust in God’s Providence. And her communication showed that.
At least she didn’t water down that Jesus Christ seeks us by Grace to cooperate with that Grace with a sincere trusting heart - and let Him burn away rationalizations.
By her giving her life that way, she was a lot more perceptive then she is given credit, cutting through the fog of rhetoric.
It is very sad that people think it was some kind of ‘war’ between Traditionalists and Liberals.
Wrong. It was deep concern over a lukewarm accommodating false Christ which spread throughout the Church. I’m not going to get into details, but I will note that before 1950, Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, well aware of certain things I will not bring up, said that God is going to allow the Remnant Church to be surrounded by a ‘new’ humanitarian Church that from the outside will look like the real Church. But while championing some, it will be complacent even to the witnessing of bloodshed of others. At the time he didn’t realize it would be the most vulnerable; which when not given a voice, actually hurts the soul of the others helped in earthly ways - and even those attempts at help are dubious and enabling.
Besides, we need very much, those who champion the Traditional Church, so that there is a clear continuity. And many callers conveyed many things that showed what was happening in many places. And now, some former or ‘post’ liberals like Bishop Robert Barron speak on this need, also.
Peace. Mother Angelical may or not be completely Sanctified by now; but she lived an unselfish life for Christ, so she certainly will be, if not already.
