She follows this up by saying that the fruits of this are what we see in the amazon synod where women are now being elevated to positions of deaconess outside of any orders from the Holy see.

Mother Miram airs Monday to Friday from 10-11 a.m.

Well, the fact that this is a matter for individual bishops to decide for their location, and not a “blanket” permission says something, I think.

What, specifically, does it “say”?

Yes: it says that it’s allowed. Just because it’s at a bishop’s discretion does not mean that it is any less “allowed”, and it does not make it a bad practice that women being allowed near the altar isn’t a blanket allowance.

Is this new? I don’t recall her being on at those times.
It’s her time slot since being released from Relevant Radio. She’s now on The Station of the Cross network.

Well, I think it “says” that this isn’t totally the norm, and it might not be suitable in all places or all times, and that a bishop might want to carefully consider whether this is a proper practice for his diocese, i.e. that this is not a practice that the universal church wholeheartedly recommends.

There are a lot of things women do in the sanctuary (let’s be correct here, as Cajun Joy pointed out, nobody should be on the altar itself but Jesus) besides be altar servers.

Women routinely serve as lectors, cantors, and EMHCs.
In addition, women perform sacristan duties in the sanctuary outside of Mass.

Is this the nun who used to be Jewish, Rosalind Moss?

My guess is that if one thinks women shouldn’t be in the sanctuary during Mass (not sure about after), one also thinks that women shouldn’t be lectors, EMHC, etc.

Thomas you are very active today!

Please refrain from presenting your personal opinion as actual catholic dogma. You have done it in many threads and clearly feel particularly strongly about women in the church.

As a new convert I understand that you are excited and eager to discuss your new faith. However by blatantly disregarding other posters responses and making sweeping (and often historically incorrect) comments - it has locked previous threads on what could be a healthy discussion.

To avoid any misunderstanding on my part do you mean on the altar (which is the table on which the Eucharist is placed) or in the sanctuary?

She means on the altar in any form. ie. Eucheristic minister, reader, altar boy, or for any reason at all during the mass.
The altar is the table in the sanctuary. Nobody, not even the priest is ON the altar.
What am I missing here?
She must mean the sanctuary.
