For awhile I thought it was just my own mother…but as time went by and I was introduced to my friends’ mothers…I noticed a trend.
Great, thanks! For awhile I thought it was just my own mother…but as time went by and I was introduced to my friends’ mothers…I noticed a trend.
I’m actually beginning to become not just my mom, but also my MIL–and she’s definitely on the crazy side…I totally agree…
I KNEW I was going CRAZY when I actually came to the realization that my own mother wasn’t as crazy as I used to think. Don’t get me wrong - she’s STILL crazy - I just SYMPATHIZE with that now!![]()
Dear Sam,Well, my mom has an actual psychiatric condition, so yeah…she’s crazy. Even crazier because she won’t acknowledge it or get help for it. So my kids don’t know their grandma and I haven’t spoken with her in five years.
Oh, those wacky moms! Heh.
Seriously, I hate when people toss around the word “crazy” lightly. Do you mean your mom is eccentric, hard to get along with, or does she have an actual mental condition?
Isn’t that the truth. But my problem is worse then yours. I am not only just like her, she became just like me (back then). My kids say why aren’t you cool like NANA. I think NANA was never this cool when she was my Mother. She laugh’s and says I don’t have to be the bad guy no more I can be their friend. But YOU CAN"T. You have to be their Mother. When I was younger I thought my mom was crazy…
now that I am 40… and have discovered…I am just like her…
So uh… my youthful thoughts of my mother were totally wrong…
She is perfectly normal and wonderful.

Now for My MIL well… My kids just say when they spend time with her ( how can daddy be so normal). How could he have come from that house?I’m actually beginning to become not just my mom, but also my MIL–and she’s definitely on the crazy side…
my poor kids.
And get that look off your face, before it sticks there permanently - don’t think you can make those faces at me behind my back - I just know, that’s how.Hey, just because I’m crazy, doesn’t mean I’m not right…now go put on your sweater, it’s cold in here.![]()
Mothers have a unique worldview which may seem “crazy” to those who don’t share it.For awhile I thought it was just my own mother…but as time went by and I was introduced to my friends’ mothers…I noticed a trend.
Is that not the truth. I thank GOD every single day for mine. And pray that I get 20 more years or so with her. I love her so Much.Mothers have a unique worldview which may seem “crazy” to those who don’t share it.
I would say, pay attention and listen to your mother. Do your best to meet her needs. Above all, love her unconditionally. In this way, you will be blessed.![]()
I didn’t understand my mother, until I became a mother! Then our relationship really grew! If I could take back the times I didn’t appreciate her love and wisdom, I would in a heartbeat, but I can’t. All I can do is thank God for the beautiful mother He gave me and wait to see her again in Heaven. Is that not the truth. I thank GOD every single day for mine. And pray that I get 20 more years or so with her. I love her so Much.
Well, when you make a broad observation in crude terms, I don’t know how you can’t expect somebody to be irritated. Heavens. You didn’t “emotionally pain” me, but what does irritate me is when somebody tosses out a word without putting it in context. As I asked, did “crazy” mean, “overly concerned about one’s children’s well being” or “hoarding empty cat food containers in the bathroom cupboards”? See what I mean? You were deliberately vague.Dear Sam,
While I am definitely sorry about the condition your mother is in, and while I will definitely pray for her and you and your kids, please know that it’s extremely difficult to imagine all possible scenarios, all feelings that could be hurt, all toes that could be stepped on, etc. when a single word is used, especially in jest. “Crazy,” as a word, has multiple uses in the English language, and among those are slang and informal uses. This thread wasn’t opened to be specific nor to step on anyone’s toes, much less your own. I was simply making a broad observation in the crudest terms.
I’m sorry if I’ve somehow emotionally pained you.
I guess this thread is finished.
