For awhile I thought it was just my own mother…but as time went by and I was introduced to my friends’ mothers…I noticed a trend.

Great, thanks!

I’d give just about anything to see my mom again, crazy or not! So I say, again, love her while you got her and then see just how crazy you get when you have kids! Because we moms didn’t start out crazy! Our little darlings make us that way! Maybe you should say you are sorry to your mom for making her crazy!!

I totally agree…
I KNEW I was going CRAZY when I actually came to the realization that my own mother wasn’t as crazy as I used to think. Don’t get me wrong - she’s STILL crazy - I just SYMPATHIZE with that now! 😃

When I was younger I thought my mom was crazy…

now that I am 40… and have discovered…I am just like her…

So uh… my youthful thoughts of my mother were totally wrong…
She is perfectly normal and wonderful.

🙂

I’m actually beginning to become not just my mom, but also my MIL–and she’s definitely on the crazy side…

my poor kids.

Well, my mom has an actual psychiatric condition, so yeah…she’s crazy. Even crazier because she won’t acknowledge it or get help for it. So my kids don’t know their grandma and I haven’t spoken with her in five years.

Oh, those wacky moms! Heh.

Seriously, I hate when people toss around the word “crazy” lightly. Do you mean your mom is eccentric, hard to get along with, or does she have an actual mental condition?

Dear Sam,

While I am definitely sorry about the condition your mother is in, and while I will definitely pray for her and you and your kids, please know that it’s extremely difficult to imagine all possible scenarios, all feelings that could be hurt, all toes that could be stepped on, etc. when a single word is used, especially in jest. “Crazy,” as a word, has multiple uses in the English language, and among those are slang and informal uses. This thread wasn’t opened to be specific nor to step on anyone’s toes, much less your own. I was simply making a broad observation in the crudest terms.

I’m sorry if I’ve somehow emotionally pained you.

I guess this thread is finished.

Isn’t that the truth. But my problem is worse then yours. I am not only just like her, she became just like me (back then). My kids say why aren’t you cool like NANA. I think NANA was never this cool when she was my Mother. She laugh’s and says I don’t have to be the bad guy no more I can be their friend. But YOU CAN"T. You have to be their Mother.😃

Now for My MIL well… My kids just say when they spend time with her ( how can daddy be so normal). How could he have come from that house?🤷

Hey, just because I’m crazy, doesn’t mean I’m not right…now go put on your sweater, it’s cold in here.:D:p;)

And get that look off your face, before it sticks there permanently - don’t think you can make those faces at me behind my back - I just know, that’s how. 😃

If the point of this thread isn’t to offend, then what is the point of it? Just to vent? Not really sure 🙂

Mothers have a unique worldview which may seem “crazy” to those who don’t share it.

I would say, pay attention and listen to your mother. Do your best to meet her needs. Above all, love her unconditionally. In this way, you will be blessed. 🙂

Is that not the truth. I thank GOD every single day for mine. And pray that I get 20 more years or so with her. I love her so Much.

I didn’t understand my mother, until I became a mother! Then our relationship really grew! If I could take back the times I didn’t appreciate her love and wisdom, I would in a heartbeat, but I can’t. All I can do is thank God for the beautiful mother He gave me and wait to see her again in Heaven.

I am not sure your age, but wait til you reach the age of being a mother or a father yourself, then you realize that your mother is not crazy after all…otherwise you must consider yourself crazy.

It isn’t just mothers, the older I get I’m beginning to realize there are a lot of “crazy” people in this world -it’s kinda scary.

My Mother’s a little crazy, yes, I think I may have some responsibility there; however, the mother of my children (my ex) is absolutely CRAZY! And my ex MIL… :whacky:

Well, when you make a broad observation in crude terms, I don’t know how you can’t expect somebody to be irritated. Heavens. You didn’t “emotionally pain” me, but what does irritate me is when somebody tosses out a word without putting it in context. As I asked, did “crazy” mean, “overly concerned about one’s children’s well being” or “hoarding empty cat food containers in the bathroom cupboards”? See what I mean? You were deliberately vague.

And just as a friendly tip, when one speaks in “jest” on the Internet, it’s wise to use one of these: 🙂 😉 😛 😃 to indicate that the comment was in jest. With that friendly indictator, it would have been clear that you were saying “Jeez! Moms are, like, wacky sometimes, aren’t they!” as opposed to, “I think all women who have raised children are certifiable.”

😃
