I didn’t understand my mother, until I became a mother! Then our relationship really grew! If I could take back the times I didn’t appreciate her love and wisdom, I would in a heartbeat, but I can’t. All I can do is thank God for the beautiful mother He gave me and wait to see her again in Heaven.
I am so so sorry. I lost my Dad last March so I feel your pain. But he is with me every second of the day, I can feel him. and your Mom is with you too. We carry them in our hearts. They are our Angels now.

Well, when you make a broad observation in crude terms, I don’t know how you can’t expect somebody to be irritated. Heavens. You didn’t “emotionally pain” me, but what does irritate me is when somebody tosses out a word without putting it in context. As I asked, did “crazy” mean, “overly concerned about one’s children’s well being” or “hoarding empty cat food containers in the bathroom cupboards”? See what I mean? You were deliberately vague.

And just as a friendly tip, when one speaks in “jest” on the Internet, it’s wise to use one of these: 🙂 😉 😛 😃 to indicate that the comment was in jest. With that friendly indictator, it would have been clear that you were saying “Jeez! Moms are, like, wacky sometimes, aren’t they!” as opposed to, “I think all women who have raised children are certifiable.”😃
Deep, cleansing breath is in order. There was clearly no intent to offend by the OP and your efforts to personalize this makes the chip on your shoulder heavier than it needs to be.

There is plenty of humor to be found in the travails of motherhood and other heavy demands of our lives. If we allowed ourselves to be open to the humorous, the ridiculous & the absurd in our lives–even in the troubles and burdens we all face–we’d spend a lot less time irritated or offeded. I for one am far more understanding of my mother’s (and grandmothers’, aunts, friends, neighbors, etc.) bouts of “insanity” 😉 😛 😃 now that I have kids myself.

It isn’t just mothers, the older I get I’m beginning to realize there are a lot of “crazy” people in this world -it’s kinda scary.
I agree. In fact, I seem to be the only rational person in my world. :p:D

My mother also has mental illness and I’m not close to her b/c she tries to blame me for everything that went wrong in our lives 20-37 years ago 🤷

Having said that, I wasn’t offended. Infact, I KNOW I’m a crazy mother.

You gotta be crazy if you continue to love someone who:
  • spits up on you
  • pees on you
  • poos on you
then goes on to
  • become a cocky irrational teenager
and then they want to suck every monetary ounce out of you…especially when they decide to go to college :D:D:D

But alas…I love being a mom. My DD is only 19 months, but I’m sure she’ll drive me crazy at times…bring it on!!!

Yes, I’m crazy…a nut bar…insane…psycho…and it’ll only get worse 👍

My kids will say…after repeatedly telling them to do their chores, homework, get off the computer it’s time for dinner, etc etc…

“Mommy, calm down, you sound so…crazy.”

I tell them… “karma will be coming your way someday kids…hee hee…and I want to have a front row seat when it does…” 🍿 (when they have kids and their kids call them nuts) 😉

So, be careful there, Epistemes…calling parents crazy…it will come back on you soooommmmeeeddddaaaayy…you’ll see when you’re a dad…

Just sayin’.

My mother readily admits she is crazy and says that she wants to share this “gift” of hers with me. I think my mother is making me crazy. But I am not sure. I am too tired to care.

At times when our girls high school or college friends come over, I will ask how their “Sweet Moms” are doing? They will usually answer with "She’s crazy as a loon"Haha or they’ll say “Psycho”. I know they are half way kidding, but my eyes can not roll far enough back in my head.:roll eyes:

However, this is one of the funniest video’s I’ve seen on crazy Mom and Dad Brains.

For awhile I thought it was just my own mother…but as time went by and I was introduced to my friends’ mothers…I noticed a trend.
Does “crazy” denote some lack of respect and empathy for yours and other mothers, or are you just being whimsical? 🙂 I do tend to dislike generalizations about people…but perhaps you are simply amusing yourself! 🙂 I presume you intend your statement light-heartedly? 🙂 As you don’t qualify your statement it’s difficult to be sure of your reasons for making this statement…
but to balance your assertion… many of us have good experiences of mothers and even mothers-in-law as wise, loving people…for instance, my own sons and I have mutually loving and mutually considerate relationships. My sons each have different natures, but none of them have ever treated me or spoken of me as if I were crazy. Nor have they tended to be disrespectful, at any age. We have good friendships and enjoy each others’ company. I believe this will be true for many and perhaps most of the mothers who post in this forum.
But though I have no liking for generalizations about people…I guess you’re only joking!

I think we are just CRAZY about our children and would do anything (even risk being mistaken for being insane) to protect them. :extrahappy:.

Yes, I was being whimsical – with a lack of emoticons.

No intent to offend any mothers. I love my mother very very much, but she is absolutely “crazy” sometimes.

I’m sure she thinks the same about you too:D
