We are doing split Masses today because of illness, and I just came home to discover a homemade chocolate cake in a heart-shaped baking container. (I was told to buy dark chocolate yesterday, but I didn’t know what it was for and my husband was very secretive.)

Here is the cake recipe:

balaganrecipes.info/moelleux-au-chocolat-french-chocolate-cake/

4 eggs
150 grams caster sugar [that’s powdered sugar]
200 grams of dark chocolate with 70% cocoa *
3 teaspoons water
125 grams butter
50 grams flour

Check that out–four times as much chocolate as flour!

I haven’t tasted it yet, but it smells really good.*

Happy Mothers Day to you. 🙂

We ended up splitting today after my 3yo lost his breakfast. DH (with some help from the kids) made heart-shaped waffles for brunch and is grilling later. Other than that we are planting our blueberry bushes today (yay!!!) and we might enjoy a margarita or two after the kids go to bed. 😃 (My present was a blender…our previous one was his grandmother’s and it held on for fifty years! But it finally died so we have a “fancy” one now…that I’m sure I will use for reasonable purposes but we’ll break it in with cocktails.)

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! :flowers: May God abundantly bless you and your families 🙂

Very sweet!

My 11-year-old son has been trying his hand at container gardening, and yesterday he and my husband bought a chocolate mint plant and some carrot seeds. The chocolate mint has been planted and I’m really excited about it. I’m thinking it will make a really nice ice cream garnish…

Yum!!

Plant some colorful annuals spilling out of the old blender! Just cut off the cord since it no longer works!

Hope you enjoy it.

We had the cake after lunch. It’s an interesting texture–half cake-y, half pudding-y and it totally doesn’t need frosting (but vanilla ice cream might be nice).

We have filed the recipe away for later use.

Do you have a cheat sheet for amount conversions? I can manipulate grams in physics equations but I’ve never measured them in my kitchen. 😉

My husband used a postal scale (!) to do this, but I will ask if he has the numbers.

I remember baking a cake like this once.

It was good with vanilla ice cream and strawberries.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you Moms out there. Enjoy your day. God bless you all. ❤️

I have my answer: google the conversions. Husband says: just google “150 g in oz.”
Of course, my smart alecky self wants to ask what to do if I want to make this on the moon, but I will refrain. 😃 Thanks!

We went to EF Mass together, the children didn’t seem to get it was mother’s day and gave me possibly the hardest time ever they have at mass 😉

Then we had lunch with DH’s mom (and aunt, and my sister [who also attended mass with us]). Then my sister and I went and visited our late mother’s grave and prayed for her.

Now my husband is going to cook dinner AND wash the dishes. 😃

Oh, man, that cake sounds heavenly!

DH handled the getting-DD-up bit this morning while I ran out for kolaches (no cooking, and yummy). Then Mass, followed by a stop at the phone store: my phone’s been dying for a while, and by combining our current phone plans, we could take advantage of an upgrade and save over 50%/month on the phones–win-win! Next, I got to go to a crafts store–gasp!–By Myself, and now DH has taken Miss Toddler out for the remainder of the evening while I get to do some fun sewing and pick up sushi for dinner from my favorite place (mmmmmm, plus, again, no cooking!).

Life is gooooooood. 😃

Husband went to play organ for two Masses, so my mother and I took the kids strawberry picking. I love the smell of freshly picked strawberries! Then they came over for BBQ.

Professor Snape tweets:

“A moment of silence for all of the fictional mothers that had to die in the name of tragic back story and character development.”
