The ones who work in the field of paleontology work under a certain dogmatic premise of the religious branch of the left, Big Science, which largely infests academia. Most scientists work under a premise, using tools considered advanced enough for all time when they serve their purposes, taught as the final word on the matter (not science’s role), before brave souls with integrity, revolutionize the field. They usually suffer ridicule by those who want to feel smart out of insecurity and some never see their theory and themselves vindicated. Unfortunately, that’s how the wheels of science spin. It’s special interests. we saw it with eugenics and Piltdown Man. We mysteriously lost “Peking Man”. Interesting…
If you think evolution is incorrect as a theory, why complain about it on an obscure web forum? Earn a science degree, get a university position and work to change things. 100,000 biologists and allied scientists use evolution every day, and the theory just gets stronger and stronger and stronger. If you think all these thousands of scientists are wrong, start proving how they are wrong!

I agree Ben Stein does not know much, nor does Richard Dawkins, Doctorate in Zoooligy and all. After everything has been said and the smoke clears, one man got it right some 4,000 years ago, Moses. **Man ate the apple and now he is in danger of thinking he is God. ** If you think I am a fanatic, read some history books on Hitler and those who advised him in building his military.

If Moses “got it right” why has evolution become stronger and stronger since 1859, until today it is the only game in town? Moses’ worldview is completely irrelevant to scientists, even to Catholic scientists. If Moses were right, shouldn’t we expect God to assist in furthering the Mosaic view?

Improve society by thinking for yourself, using your God-given reason, when our doctrines are not involved. The world the Left in America want to please so bad is falling apart. They have been out to euthenize the 3rd world, people who are descendants of them in developed countries, and the severely inhibited disabled population for centuries. It seems they are making themselves non-adaptable as their so-intelligent “well-breds” have done so. They concocted macroevolution and have guarded it jealously and their hate is ending Western Civilization there and anywhere else it is accepted. Theistic Evolution, like how we have avoided dogmas that upset the Protestants, is just a way to appease the modernist gods of Mt. Darwin. Both don’t really respect us for that. This is just the Catholic version of white guilt, except that we are sacrificing our identity to make amends with Big Science over the Galileo thing. They have far more Galileo skeletons in their closet and they have done far worse than just punish one man. It’s time to regain our integrity, as Catholics, by declaring the 5th Marian dogma and listening more to those who did believe in macroevolution, but, like St. Paul, changed by a different shock–the shock of truth–probably given by God.
Not only that—but ‘the Galileo thing’ has been largely mis-represented by the very same media who tells us unborn babies are just a conglomeration of cells, but fish and trees deserve our protection.

Not at all. This is the world’s own iniquity at work, for which God gives us as much leeway as we dare to take.

That’s very convenient for you to say. So if you think Moses’ view of the world is scientifically correct, why is it not evident to anyone else? Where are the pillars that support the corners of the earth? Is one of them in Tennessee? Where did the water drain to after the great flood? Was it magically removed into outer space? How did Noah’s ark hold twenty million species, and how did it get them all back to their appropriate continents after the flood? If the earth is only 6,000 to 10,000 years old, how is it we can find 160,000 years documented in ice cores?

The truth is, you have a completely incoherent world view, devoid of scientific underpinning. The sad thing is that for a Catholic it’s totally unnecessary to champion such an incoherent perspective.

When Darwin got to the Galapagos he was most likely excited, ready to see something new and worthwhile after sailing for many months risking his life at sea. In his first observations he saw that it’s life was uniquely wild and uninhabited by man, it was quite the opposite of the tamed world he was probably used to. In his journals he states he observed everything very closely paying close attention to the finches, which later explained his theory of evolution. He said the suttle differences he observed in the birds from island to island, were the same suttle differences must have occured overtime to make such complex life forms. Today, science searches for more evidence, but finds that the further they go back in the fossil record, the less things seem to be evolving, so they find other species that look similar and conclude they must be the same. Fossils are rare and are not easily discovered, yet you think their would be some concrete evidence for Darwins theory but their is not. After a few hundred years of this theory being accepted by many, science has dicovered something new about this old idea of finch evolution called “cylical variation” which is the ability for birds to adapt to climate and other conditions. When the birds with larger beaks bread with those of smaller beaks they reproduce, instead of dying from not being specialized, they develop their own niche. The fact is that all life on earth is different and has different abilities to adapt. These finches under close observation are not evolving at all, but adapting, cross-breeding, and readapting, so Darwin’s biggest dicovery was actually no different that Mendels. Moses does not make claims such as birds use to be lizards or humans-monkeys, but plays it safe and gives a general explanation of how the earth was formed and how life came from the dust of the earth by a supernatural power, every creature being created in its own form and having a purpose. This occurence of life may be the spark of lightning that science has been trying to recreate or explain, or it may be some other ‘super’-natural power, beyond our explanation.

This thread is to discuss the MOVIE: Expelled.
It it not the place to carry on philosophical or scientific debates.
Please keep your posts on topic.

St Anastastia’s comments were discussing how George Bush does not believe in evolution, trying to make an attack on those who disagree with the current mainstream theories of evolution, which basically is what the movie expelled was all about. Not sure if you saw it but it discussed both Darwin and Genesis, though I am not sure if they talked about Bush. Just trying to enlighten the topic of discussion with a little more insight on what the movie was about. 😊

Dawkins said in it he thinks aliens may have spread our seed here. The silence of Big Science, professors, and other prominent teachers of science on that is deafening. Why don’t they tell him to shut up and quit misrepresenting? Those individuals with religion don’t want to admit the truth of the origins of macroevolution and those, such as the Communists and Weinmar pre-Nazi scientists, likely don’t disapprove, because it’s all about getting God and His influence out of society. The PT Myers guy wanted consecrated hosts to be taken out and defiled–no comment from Big Science.

If there’s any proof of macroevolution in lower species, the eugenicists have undermined themselves by not shutting up their atheist fanatics. They should have books that say that Darwin was wrong and that he, with his cousin, Galton, were hateful eugenicists, who wanted to be rid of certain people (you hear that damning quote of Darwin in the movie). They don’t and it’s very telling. Big Science is a monolith, given power in society from our belief in them as the truthtellers of how the world and man were made, instead of clergy, and don’t need to worry about us. Macroevolution is a PC tool of Old World “Enlightenment” eugenic elitist haters to not just get rid of God in our thinking, but to get rid of God in our thinking so as to use those deemed unwanted as material for vaccines and other mad science. Those that don’t follow are declared religious fanatics and hurt in academia. It’s the kind of stuff they accuse religions of doing to them.

Check this out and the rest of the sections from one who used to be one who converted from the party line of Big Science. I choose truth over reliability. Hasn’t anyone heard this growing up: “Just because everyone else is doing it, that doesn’t make it right”.

If many clergy were committing public or publicized sexual sins, would that make those sins not sins? Well, Evolutionists cry “reliability” all the time. These clergy, unfortunately, are just tolerated by radical Atheists for helping out Big Science. I can’t be sure if they are like the infamous Black Irrev.s that Margaret Sanger wanted to sell abortion to Blacks with religion, but as soon as a post-Christian NWO is established, we may find out.

Well think about all the possible reasons why Dawkins may have said this:
  1. He believes in Aliens! And that life on earth was designed by them or atleast started.
  2. He believes in God! But does not like the people who use him as an excuse to be complacent, refusing to ask questions. So he is messing with them.
  3. He is not sure what he believes like most people and is challenging mainstream thought, atleast when it comes to religion.
  4. He is an Alien! 😃
I was surprised to hear him make this claim, being his agenda lately seems to be that if you believe in God you are delusional. Yet, if you believe in Aliens that evolved over trillions of years and made earth into their petri-dish, you are less delusional??

Some think there are aliens who have taken our form and are up to no good or there are ones that mean well and ones that don’t. It’s also believed by some that the government will reveal they’ve known all this and will have us meet them so they can teach us something like what Eastern religions believe. I don’t know about that but, if true, maybe Dawkins is an alien or one of their stooges. LOL

Religious believers in UFOs and Grays and such believe they are demons trying to get us to disbelieve in God by posing as an advanced race that will tell us stuff that contradicts Christian (and probably others, that believe in God in mistaken ways) teaching. It could be. If demons, they can probably make us see such sights, but you don’t hear of NASA reporting a UFO flying around Mars, unless they flew here before we could see them and started building ships underground? Still, why could they not be from another dimension–possibly a timeless one, like Hell probably is (though I don’t know if God creates zones that are not in time)?

Sorry, moderators. I digress. Anyway, ones who are respected as scientists and ones who believe in stealing Eucharists, like Prof. Myers, need to be shut up by believers in macroevolution and Atheists, or the rest of us can only assume a conflict of interest and not real scientific theory. It was bemoaned on “Flock of Dodos” that they just aren’t packaging it right. Well, telling people to shut up or get out of academia, regarding this topic (when you can still disagree on a simpler thing that could be resolved over recent decades, like whether red meat or wine is really ok for you), and not silencing their fanatics are ways in which they tell us their science vs ours is really a religious turf war with Christianity (esp. Catholicism) and thus, they lose us. The fact that they share Darwinianism with the likes of intelligent doctors in Germany before Nazism, and during it, and that they love an institution for getting rid of unwanted embryonic people (Planned Parenthood), created by a Nazi fellow traveler, doesn’t help them either. They need to run their fanatics out of departments of science and education and belittle history’s atheistic haters first, before pointing fingers at Christian Creationists.

My, you have a vivid imagination; either that or you are eager to bear false witness against your neighbor! I said nothing of the sort in post # 120.

Do you have any evidence for this allegation that evolutionary scientists are eugenicists?

How does that work? The movie was all about those debates being stifled in the academic/scientific world.

Those debates have not been stifled. They just took place long ago. Academic careers are short, and conference time is precious. Just as physicists no longer waste time on arguing whether gravity is a coherent theory, biologist don’t waste time on arguing whether evolution is a coherent theory. At one time it made sense to debate whether gravity and evolution exist; now it no longer makes sense.

The “martyrs” of Expelled complaining that debate is being stifled would be like medical researchers complaining that medical conferences won’t give a hearing to the theory that diabetes-related infections are a result of demonic possession. That theory might have made sense at one point, but no longer.

I would like to make a retraction to my previous comment. My apologize to StAnastasia, who was merely posing the question, If Bush was against evolution. It was actually Sailor Kenshin, who said that the movie should have been called, “It’s Bush’s Fault,” though sarcastically. I believe this is why the Forum Administrator has been posting warnings to stay on topic, to avoid such situations of bad communication.

Thank you, Liberalcatholic! I was indeed merely replying to Sailor Kenshin, wondering what he meant by drawing George Bush into the discussion.

If I answered your question, SA, I would get in trouble again for beinf off-topic. Ben does make the case that the macro-evolution proponents’ work was started by a eugenicist, who, as the quote in the movie makes clear, believed certain people should be breeded. If anything, the macroevolutionists are the stooges of hate. The Church should stay away from the hateful and hole-filled logic legacy of Darwin (who, unlike people like Dawkins, had the humility to say that he could be wrong–and he was), so we can have a separation of church and hate.

I don’t know anything about a “hateful and hole-filled logic legacy of Darwin,” but I do know a number of Catholic priests who teach evolutionary biology. And I know that the makers of Expelled are liars, because they lied to my organization when they invited us to be interviewed for making this film. They said it was about something quite different than it turned out to be, so we pulled the plug on the interview.
