You know what I dont get?? Is that the ‘homosexual community’ tries so hard to gain, equal rights, treatment, respect etc…and then a movie comes out like Bruno, thats like a glaring mockery of a flamoyant gay dude…and their not offended by it…idk…it just seems to me like Bruno is portraying homosexuals as ((i dont even know what word im allowed to put here, but if you seen the movie you know what i mean)) when the community is trying to say ‘hey, were just people, like everybody else’…

like…there was this one part…where theyre joking that mexicans they’ll do anything for work…and he goes down and tells some mexican dudes he needs help with furniture…so…thinking he means ‘moving’ furniture they say yes…they get there and he asks them to POSE as furniture…and they do it…and they’re sitting on the mexican dudes…eating lunch off of em’…and they’re pretending they’re tables and chairs and the whole thing is just so DEGRADING it disgusted me…seriously … made me sick in my stomach…i cant watch c**p like that…

and im not even one of those people with no sense of humor, you know what i mean?? but like…idk maybe im bias because my kids half mexican and i know that culture and how some people are so ignorant to the beauty of it…but…im not bias to homosexuals and i think they should be equally of as offended :twocents:
Yeah, that was pretty offensive. It was painful looking at the workers’ faces, they so looked humiliated and the one Paula sat on looked like he was having a difficult time.

There seems to be a fair amount of disagreement about the movie. From what I have read online, quite a few gays disapprove, some quite strongly. The movie has been described as a gay minstrel show and GLAAD (The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has expressed its disapproval, as has a spokesman for the Human Rights Campaign.

Other gays, however, disagree. They note that Cohen doesn’t mean harm to the homosexual community and that folks should save their anger, time and money for more important things.

Oh see I didnt know that…I havent heard anything about anyone complaining about it…it just seems like…its reinforcing the stereotypes of gays??? if that makes sense…

If a “Gay Pride” parade doesn’t seem to them to harm the community, BRUNO certainly won’t.

Again, with the penis: was this actually his or merely a prostetic?

LOL, why do you care so much?
I don’t know. Part of it is for the reason I said before: he, in real life, is Jewish, but, I suspect that his character wouldn’t have been circ’d. Also, remember in Boogie Nights the end scene…well, have you at least heard about it? It was a prosthetic and caused so much controversy (and I think a rating of R or higher). On the other hand, if it really was Cohen, kudos to him for being comfortable enough with his body, though, his is not my humour, and I will most likely not see this. I saw Borat, and, though my friend LOVED it and laughed so hard at one scene, got rid of her developing migrane, ~I~ did not see what was so great about it. I am not much for schtick, nor gross out humour, nor taking advantage of other people. The only thing I found amusing in the movie spoiler alert was when his friend, played by Davidian, was trying to make money in Hollywood and was dressed as Oliver Hardy and replys to Borat, “Well, this is another fine mess you’ve gotten us into.” – I don’t even think the audience I was with noticed the subtlety of that.
