Movies that make you cry

I think Watership Down made me cry. I recall a mob of sobbing children pouring out of the theatre after the film ended. Also, Bambi left me emotionally mutilated; that I remember vividly.

I don’t have a “favorite” cry movie.

There is enough sorrow in my life without paying for more.

I avoided Titanic for two years, until someone really wanted to see it on DVD and was paying for the pizza 🙂

There’s quite a few… I find myself crying more often at TV series such as HOUSE but when it comes to films:

The Green Mile
Into the Abyss (Werner Herzog)
This is England
 
The Elephant Man was also heart wrenching, and even to this very day, just sitting here thinking of that man’s enormous heart and what his soul endured. Oh, I wish I had known him….:sad_bye:

The Green Mile is such a good movie!
I also cried during Cast Away when he loses Wilson. 😊

I have a DVD of this. Maybe I should watch this during Lent.

I bet I’m the only person on CAF who still hasn’t seen this film. Thanks for the inspiration, Sarcelle, I’m going to watch it during Lent.

I haven’t seen it either, sounds like a good idea to watch it during Lent.
 
Somewhere In Time, Diving Bell and the Butterfly. The latter being a true and extremely tragic story.

Me too! It brings tears to my eyes just thinking of the scene when HE fell carrying the cross and Mary reached to catch HIM as she did when HE was a small boy and falling… God Bless, Memaw
 
Of Gods and Men.
The true story of French Monks who were slaughtered in Algeria by extremists.
I highly recommend it.

I’d include Old Yeller too. I can’t watch this again either, and ditto for Bambi. I have the Passion on DVD and try and watch it every Good Friday at least.
 
I am a horrible sap. I cry at a LOT of movies.

One where both my husband and I were blubbering (so I know it wasn’t just me being crazy) was the montage of Carl and Ellie’s marriage in Up. It gets both of us every time (and causes great confusion for our 3 year old).

The end of Toy Story 3, too.

Actually, there is probably a reliable cry moment in every Pixar movie. Repeated viewings - as happens with the preschool set - do make some of them lose their effect over time.
