But, if they were converted to the wholeness and truth of the Catholic faith then they would also be converted on abortion by default. So, shouldn’t we be talking about conversion to the Catholic faith the same way we talk about conversion to pro-life?
Being Catholic does not mean you are Pro-Life or you are but you don’t want to tell other people how to live. 50% of Catholics voting voted for Barack Obama because they chose economy over life and now late term abortions are no longer banned. But I do understand about language and that maybe because of your situation 15 years ago, you are more sensitive to “the language” then some. I have a mentally retarded daughter and when I hear some language is hurts me and absolutely shuts me down…Retard…it turns me off to that person and anything they would say, so I do see your point there. Hearts and minds need to be changed. Your story, your personal witness is one of the very best ways to change peoples hearts and minds. It’s what I had to do.
I said if they were converted to the “wholeness and truth of the Catholic faith”. Cafeteria Catholics do not have the wholeness and truth of the Catholic faith and I was actually talking about them as part of the segment that needs to be converted.

I think you are right, that my situation did play some part in my being turned off by certain language. Why do people refuse to listen to someone who has been there? There are other things that turn me off as well, like the attitude lot of pro-lifers take when I try to talk about it. I mean seriously, in this thread, I have been accused of not being able to tell people who oppose my stance on abortion the truth; in others words, I have been called a liar because I treat people with dignity and respect. Never mind that the first time I talked about saying pro-choice I clearly stated that it allows me to keep them listening while I make a case for their choice being murder. It is very sad to me when the hateful and hurtful language has hardened someone’s heart to the point where they honestly believe there is no civil way to express the point without lying.

Your child is beautiful and precious, they bless your life! When I was in college I worked in a group home for those of lesser mental ability for a while. And, I’ll tell you they are beautiful people. I had so much fun with them. (That could be taken the wrong way, but I think you know what I mean.)

The biggest problem is that I’ve been in the middle of talking to people about abortion, and I’ve had people shut me out by saying pro-lifers say, … and I cannot take any group of people who display that kind of prejudice, hatred, etc. seriously and then the entire group walks away. And, I can’t defend against this for two reasons. First, the person I’m talking to is right. Second, they stop listening when they start saying that. Understanding who I talk to about abortion will help understand why I want to strangle my fellow pro-lifers when I hear this. I talk to teenage girls, recently determined pregnant who are at risk of getting an abortion. So here I am, face-to-face with people preparing to have this done and they have been turned off to considering my issue because people who supposedly respect life do not respect their fellow man when talking about it.

Let’s face it, laws don’t kill babies – people do. And, anyone who insists on using this type of hate mongering speech is contributing to the problem, not helping it.

ALL Catholics SHOULD BE pro-life, and if you are pro-life then you should want to protect unborn children. Its not about telling other people how to live, its about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to live, and that opportunity is not taken away by legalized murder!

Just to clarify things since the quote tags got messed up. Livi is responding to what ltramel and not what I wrote.

Not to say that anyone would make this mistake, I’m just ensuring they don’t

Yes they should! Heck all people should be for life

Did you bother to read my entire reply?
**Yes, dear, as disenfranchised as I am, I struggled through it, and your following post as well, searching for a covert message or a profoundly enlightening snippet.

What I found was a poster who a) declared she was hereby refusing to “play along”, and b) a poster* who continued to play along.***

Am I missing something?

Exactly. You cannot be Catholic and pro-abortion.

It is pretty clear that you are alone in that assesment of SK’s posts. There is no reason to be rude or condescending. Goodness, you almost sound like a drawmack sock-puppet.

**Well, I’ve certainly been called worse.

Because we cannot see each other sneering, rolling our eyes, or gnashing our teeth, we read posts as they appear within the context of posts preceeding them. Sailor Kenshin’s post contained an exhausted, eye-rolling sneer, as far as I’m concerned. So I responded to the way it read.

If you’re going to ignore me please do it politely and civilly by not talking about me.

While I applaud Stanek for uncovering these horrible practices, I still hope that she hasn’t inadvertently facilitated the future assassination of yet another abortionist.
The guy beats a drum on the street! Do you think is name and location are not already well-known?

Thread closed for being off topic and for an almost total lack of Christian charity. If time permits, I will clean it up and reopen it - after I issue infractions to those of you who have been around long enough to know better.

I fully support Jill Stanek and participate in her blog almost daily. She tells it like it is, because she has seen with her OWN EYES the atrocity of abortion, up close and personal.

Furthermore, who really CARES what Olberman thinks or says about ANYTHING ???
I wouldn’t walk into the next room to see him or listen to him.

It’s no big news flash that the MSM is as liberal as you can get. If people like Olberman upset you, DON’T WATCH him. It’s just that easy. 99% of what is aired anymore is garbage anyway.

It’s people like him that made me stop watching tv entirely a few years ago.

My thought exactly; she deserves much credit for doing her job and reporting these horrible crimes. If she had directed some other murderer to kill some other abortionist that is a different story.

I only discovered this Oberman guy about a week ago, and I agree, seeing him in action once was enough, Wouldn’t give him the time of day.
God Bless Jill Staneck. Have you heard that Carhart might be in the market for buying Tiller’s clinic? God forbid.
