Does that mean Jews don’t have paintings or artwork portraying things that happened in scripture?

I dont think Jews do portray their prophets. I mean Orthodox ones. The reason of banning pictures of specially prophets is for fear of their worship. Thats the main reason at least .

What is the secondary reason? Is it against other laws?

The Prophets are the closest people to Allah (SWT) and the purest beings after the Angels. A picture of anyone of them, as a way of remembrance, would soon (Why not?) become a statue, something which people made with their own hands! and before which some (many!) would be standing and bowing in godliness and humility. It may as well end up that people would believe it has some sort of power it does not have (i.e. benefit or harm them), or believe it can help intercede for them before Allah.

According to the Islamic way of looking at things, eating should be forbidden because someone may be guilty of gluttony, and sex should be banned because it may be used to commit adultery or fornication.

Exactly! Which shows how ridiculous your point is! Should we ban letter writing, because someone may write a poison pen letter? Should we ban knives because they can be used to murder somone? Should we give up cars because we can cause an accident or run over someone?

As for your pure Islamic monotheism, you should seriously investigate the mental health of your prophet! Anyone who gets upset over pictures on a cushion, or who cannot accept the least criticism and has his detractors assassinated is not only mentally unstable, but evil as well!

So you accept everything Muhammad declared “halal” even if it does not make sense? Of course you do, you’re not allowed to question anything, you have to accept blindly. Ali Sina of FFI was so right when he declared:

did and wrong is what he prohibited. In other words
**Muslims are not to judge Muhammad by norms of **
