You know, the irony in all this complaining about multiculturalism is that people had no issues stomping out the original cultures of this continent.

Tell you what. Using that logic for one specific argument let’s throw all the Zimbabweans out of Rhodesia and rename it because “we” have to go to the beginning of historical records to get it right. Would they get it right there though considering that history is written by people with agendas.
Look at the Democratic party who want to tear down flags and dig up confederate soldiers. The history of the Democrat party makes me think that strategy might be…well…dumb given their origins and Al and Bill’s campaign banners in 1992

Self-loathing makes me consider that people aren’t happy with their country. Well. It might be time for them to consider moving somewhere where they are. Maybe they should try the Middle East. Oh of course they’re not keen on “multiculturalism” are they?

They would probably disagree as the religion of peace and welfare for all infidels? How is that logical? But the comparison is the USA and now the Middle East in relation to- Multiculturalism is a sham. So either both Merkal and Islam is right or multiculturalism is.

Personally I think shes wrong as most of us find great joy in the cultural diversity and relationships we have developed over the years. What comes to mind is the bar-room Star Wars scene; “WE DON’T SERVE YOUR KIND HERE”. Which is rather odd in its own multicultural galactic gathering, But today is there a very real reason why we wouldn’t want a specific “kind” here so to speak.

Probably something to explore but the muslims honesty fleeing to here for freedom and safety in essence uphold multiculture and reject the not your kind theory by their own actions.

The more glaring criticism of America as a melting pot, I think would be blacks in America. Segregation and Jim Crow laws directly contradict the melting pot, and are institutionalized multiculturalism.
It is not looking at history through rose colored glasses to understand the type of system that ultimately successfully opposed Jim Crow, and prevailed time and again, in spite of the fact that the human nature of Americans is as tribal and/or racist as human nature anywhere.

the only thing that is required for immigrants is to respect the culture they’re in and not “melt” into a larger homogenous culture. the big problem for the american catholic church is that it has lost its culture and identity. if anything, we want to make america more culturally catholic.

God loves diversity, not domination and assimilation into the borg.

It is unfortunate that melting pot is now considered to be domination and assimilation, rather than freedom and full acceptance.

I love Germany…but by that measure I guess the US is a failed experiment in multiculturalism.

The USA is not the same as the multiculturalism in a lot of other First World nations. The USA historically has been a melting pot. That means when the Irish, Poles, Eastern Europeans, Italians ect. came over here they assimilated and in many cases were taught to assimilate.

It was done to help them out and it was unapologetically without political correctness or fear of offending someone.

The multiculturalism in the EU refers to a block of nations with different languages and even different values one goes north and west to east and south, and it prominently refers to immigration.

However, unlike America, immigrants in the EU are not assimilating but are establishing separate societies quite literally.

And the only reason Europe, Canada, Australia, and some parts of East Asia can afford to experiment with all of this nonsense as the prior comment aptly puts it, is at the end of the day the American nuclear navy is at the ready.

Read Genesis 11:1-9. Multiple cultures were the result of sinful pride. I am not saying the story was historical fact, but it teaches that the inability to live in peace was only one of the results of sin.

To tell the truth (and the truth is all that matters), before the French revolution there was no such thing as a secular society with separation of religion and state. Every government was expected to uphold the religious principles of its subjects, and religious minorities did not have the same social or legal status as the religious majority. This applied in Catholic, Protestant and Muslim states.

The point, though, is how the religious majority treated its minorities. That varied from time to time and place to place. Islam, for example, could be fairly moderate, imposing a tax and denying non-moslems positions of social importance, but otherwise leaving the minorities in peace. Or it could persecute them. My take on Islam is that it goes through alternating phases of fanaticism and moderation. Right now fanaticism is on the rise. But fanatic or moderate, Islam cannot endorse secularism or allow non-moslem minorities equal status in the territories it governs.

since Islam will no doubt continue to grow considerably, I wish Christians would continue to unite - for example, seeing how the Christians of the Middle East have been persecuted, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have the Orthodox and Catholic churches unite again. Some Anglicans and Episcopalians have united with the Catholic church again through ordinariates or private conversions. Granted there are people who are converting from other denominations too, but
I would like to see droves of people being awakened into Christianity again and seeking the fullness of the faith.

Like France, while the policy might be to mould all immigrants into good Germans or French, people who have live in the same community for thousands of years will never really be able to recognize people from the outside as anything but outsiders, even as generations of time pass by. It is not as if people from everywhere arrive to the same place and have to sort things out to create a common identity. German identity has already been set, and like native Indians in the Americas, the identity of Germans also involves indigeneous ties to the land that extend back into prehistory even.

That is a problem in the creation of a German melting pot, and is likely why every government policy will be facing an uphill battle when it comes to battling the ghetto-ization of multiculturalism, and the creation of banlieus of people who have no identification with the host country. Even if multiculturalism is not encouraged and not the official policy as in Britain( whose Muslims are the most radicalized population in Europe, btw), indigenous people will always see immigrants as outsiders. It is the same everywhere. But the bigger problem is the sheer scope of the numbers of immigrants arriving. Seven hundred immigrants arriving in a village of 500 indigenous effectively destroys the indigenous culture of that village, forever! There is no hope whatsoever in immigrants being assimilated and integrated into the larger culture when they in effect have become that larger culture on the local level.

And Europe’s immigrants are just not global in extent. They overwhelmingly come from one region of the globe, which has had its own Arabized, Islamicized culture since the age of Mohammed and the Arabic Empire. There is no need for a myriad of incoming people to adopt and/or develop a common language and a common point of view in order to communicate with each other. That common point of view already exists for them, and has existed for nearly a thousand years.

I don’t doubt Merkel’s sincerity. I don’t doubt Merkel’s good heart, and good intentions, and her empanthy for the suffering people of the hell hole which is the ME and the House of Islam.
But there is no way that Merkel can realize her goal of one Germany consisting of Germans converted from people from everywhere. All the good wishes and good intentions in the world will never result in adding twos together and coming up with the perfect five.

I would doubt it. She’s been playing the German people for months pretending to stop it with no intention of doing so. She even said the other day that Multiculturalism is a disaster as you did in this very good post that you’ve written.

She’s afraid to ask people in Germany to refrain from abortion and contraception so she wants to import families. That’s one of her aims.

The other is more sinister and backed by Soros. Viktor Orban, the Hungarian PM called him out and caught him out because when it looked as if there might be an early intervention, Soros said Europe should take 1M refugees a year! He’s behind this and he’s paying her and Tusk and all the other clownish World leaders to create a Global “community”. However if it doesn’t work they simply create an authoritarian order to “save” us from “conflict” that they’ve created.

Many idiotic social justice warriors have drunk the kool aid of their self loathing liberal (Commie) professors in the poisonous Marxist hives that masquerade as colleges and think that cultural suicide is our “just dessert”.

The low birth rates are due to the progressive liberal sexual freedoms which is very ironic considering they support bringing in people who have the very opposite views of them on everything.
