“Murdered Iraqi bishop To Receive Path to Peace Award
New York City, N.Y., Jun 1, 2009 (CNA).-
The Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul Paulos Faraj Rahho will posthumously receive the 2009 Path to Peace Award, the Path to Peace Foundation has announced. The award will recognize Christians who have remained in Iraq to witness to their faith…”
This news is actually from June 1. Given yesterday’s news from Iraq about the church bombings I was looking here for this 6/1/09 piece. It seems it may never have made it to Catholic Answers Forums at that time or since.
(This old blog , March 17, 2008, from the time of his death has photos and poignant commentary from a westerner present at Archbishop Rahho’s funeral. The writer, John, is, or was, apparently a teacher at Babel Pontifical College, there under the auspices of the Mennonite Central Committee. He was writing to the Mennonite community and supporters of the MCC saying, “I’ll try to describe a little bit about the meaning and the context of this tragedy as it looks from here.”)
