This is what we did at my parish’s Midnight Mass:

Preparation of the Gifts: Noels of Christmas
Communion Hymn: #96 Infant Holy, Infant Lowly W ZLOBIE LEZY
Recessional Hymn: #82 Joy to the World ANTIOCH
 
At my parish’s Vigil Mass:

Entrance: O Little Town of Bethlehem (SAINT LOUIS)
Offertory: Away in a Manger (MUELLER)
Mass Setting: Mass of Spirit and Grace (Ricky Manalo, C.S.P.)
Communion: Silent Night (STILLE NACHT)
Recessional: Hark! the Herald Angels Sing (MENDELSSOHN)
 
Just want to wish everyone a very blessed Christmas!!! I’m sure all of you had wonderful music during your liturgy(ies) at your parishes. Hope you are all getting your rest now. 4 masses, one lessons and carols and two half hour Christmas preludes, a few hours of sleep and I think I can safely say I am officially whooped. 😛 All completely worth it, though.

I am resting, meaning I am back at work today (yes, on Christmas). I only had one Mass, for the first time in a decade.

I just love, though, that our Christmas carols do not end today. 😃
 
For Christmas, I received two church music–related books: the Mundelein Psalter and the Graduale Romanum. I’m looking forward to showing them to my little schola.

Oh, gosh, I feel for you. Going back to work to rest is not good. 😦 Towards the end of our midnight mass, I was telling myself that I will not do this again next year, but I know myself. I will be doing it again.

If you enjoy what you do, you never work a day in your life. 😃 I still had time today to put together some Legos, with a promise of more Legos tomorrow, so my son is okay with it.

That is very, very true. 🙂 I love what I do, but I had to cancel my opera rehearsal this morning. It’s difficult to have the stamina, support or the voice to sing well especially with that kind of singing when you have no rest and you’ve been singing hardcore for days in a row. 😦

I was not able to spend time with my family on Christmas Eve due to the mass schedules. We had an early “dinner” at lunch, then I was out the door and didn’t get home until 2:00 a.m. But I know that is usually the plight of most of my musician colleagues at Christmas, so I can’t complain. And it was worth doing it for God. I may not do Midnight mass next year because I’ll have another baby by then, but I’ll have to play it by ear.
