I am glad that I was able to use Sing Praise to Our Creator as an entrance this Sunday. I have missed it from the OCP missalette. I do not know all of next week yet, but I am going to include The King of Love My Shepherd Is. It is a beautiful hymn despite its Yoda-ish title.

Processional: Lord of our Life

I always try to use hymns based on the propers. For example, The King of Love My Shepard Is for November 11th (Communion chant: “The Lord is my shepherd and I shall want nothing; he has set me in a land of abundant pastures; he has led me to life-renewing waters.”), or Rejoice the Lord is King on for the procession on the Third Sunday of Advent. The church has given us texts to use at those times, so if we can’t use them yet because of the politics of our situations, let’s at least get as close as we can to using them.

Over on the MusicaSacra forum, there’s also a project that pops up once and again where the introits of a season are adapted and versified into a hymn. I think all the lent introits have been done, maybe advent too.
 
We do not use the propers. I try to find the hymn closest to the readings for the day. From what I have seen here, this is what most do.

Yes - the hymn choices for this Sunday (and indeed every sunday) were selected with the Propers in mind. Did you think that the hymns were just randomly selected?
 
My suggestions come based off the readings. “Gather and Remember” mentions the Good Shepherd, which is what this Sunday’s Gospel is about. “Rejoice, the Lord Is King” is just a general praise hymn I like to suggest every so often. I felt that it fit this weekend. Sometimes you can’t find hymns suitable for the Sunday’s readings. Praise-type hymns usually work all the way around. “One Lord” and “One Bread, One Body” focus on the unity of Christ’s Church and His people, another “main idea” of this weekend’s readings.

The above link is to a poem by the internationally known hymnwrite, Kathleen Pluth. But I can’t speak as whether she ever intended it to serve as a hymn’s text. I have contacted her about your need and hopefully she will clarify whether the poem can or ought to serve at a liturgy as a hymn to be sung.

To your question- The 3rd verse of Bernadette Farrell’s GOD HAS CHOSEN ME contains:
“In all whose cry is unheard, to raise up the voice with no power or choice…”
That has always struck me as particularly apt to describe our responsibility to our preborn children.
Another powerful text/melody is Janet Sullivan Whitaker’s HERE AT THIS TABLE. Vs.2, particularly.
The gospel/spiritual LEAD ME, GUIDE ME by Doris Akers is powerful.
