I enjoy hearing what was sung at Mass. today is the Third SUnday of Advent.: We sang the propers, Earthen Vessles. Comfort, Comfort ye My People, and THe Creed.

I can’t recall the opening hymn, but the Communion hymn was “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and the recessional hymn was “Rejoice, The Lord is King.”
 
For meditation; come Lord Jesus the light is dying.
For thanks giving O come,O come Emmanuel (but in my local language).
I have just realized there was a lot of songs saying"come Lord". from the entrance to communion. I wonder if that’s right.

I was super super excited at the first too I mentioned. Gotta love Advent!
 
We had a Christmas carol service tonight and sang O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night and O Come Emmanuel.
 
I didn’t sing, I don’t usually, but the cantor sang:

Come to us, O Emmanuel
A Voice Cries Out (which wow, this must be one of the toughest for parishes to sing; it has no discernable pattern)
Bread of Life

And I don’t remember the recessional.
 
We’ve been doing a prayer for advent instead of an opening hymn.

Offertory: “The King Shall Come When Morning Dawns”
Communion: “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”
Recessional: “People Look East”
 
I’ll preface this by saying it was an Ordinary Form Mass in case anyone was wondering.

Propers:

Introit: Gaudete in Domino Semper
Gradual: Qui Sedes Domine
Alleluia: Excita Domine
Offertory: Benedixisti Domine Terram Tuam
Communion: Dicite: Pusilamines…

Ordinary:

Kyriale XVII, with Kyrie XVIIc; Credo 3.

The above all in Latin (except Kyrie of course). The rest was in French plainchant including the readings which were chanted. The only thing not chanted was the homily.

Yes it’s done this way every Sunday (every day for that matter!). It’s at a Benedictine monastery.

As a footnote, being Gaudete Sunday, the organ was used (prelude, offertory and postlude), and the presiding celebrant wore rose-coloured vestments.
