As we have done in the past few years, we are opening with Psalm 51 for every Sunday of Lent and having the congregation kneel while the ministers enter. It’s very effective, and I feel like it adds something extra to the season. Lent is very solemn, and this solemn entrance really reflects that. We are also using another setting of Psalm 51 for the responsorial psalm each Sunday.
Lent has to be one of my favorite, if not my favorite, liturgical season. I love the solemn tone to it. I love the Easter season, of course, but Lent really “sets the stage” and complements Easter very well.
