With all respect, Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence strikes me as a pretty bizarre choice for Paschaltide. I’m glad Mary Magdalene and the other disciples to whom the risen Lord appeared in yesterday’s and today’s Gospels didn’t take that advice!
It’s not very bizarre. With all due respect, are you not familiar with the lyrics?
It comes from the Divine Liturgy of St. James. The final verse ends with three Alleluias. Remember, Jesus told Mary Magdalene not to touch Him. Furthermore, when he broke the bread at Emmaus, he was, in effect, telling the disciples to look for him now in the Eucharist. This is a most appropriate hymn for Holy Communion all the way into Ascension Thursday/Sunday.

I had double-checked the lyrics, and still find the piece an odd choice for this time of year: sort of a “Shhhh! the Lord is risen!”

Don’t ever do the Gloria after the opening prayer at Mass. There is a certain format in the Mass that must be followed. However, if you are doing SCAP (Sunday Celebration in the Absence of a Priest), the Gloria takes place a little later.
I think you’re interpreting the hymn differently – I’ve always seen “Let all mortal flesh keep silence” as an allusion to the worship in heaven as seen in Revelation. It is a liturgical instruction based on the reverence and awe that comes from beholding the Paschal Mystery, the Lamb who was slain but lives again, and who is now present on the altar as our Eucharistic Lord. It is especially appropriate as an offertory or communion son. On thinking about it, it’s a perfectly valid subject for a difference of opinion, so I do apologize for calling it bizarre – I guess I’m interpreting either the message of the hymn or the spirit of these Easter weeks a little differently than you might be. BTW, your other choices I like.
Sort of reminds me of the processional hymn we used this morning: “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” by Scott Soper.
I guess music directors are bringing out the Marian hymns for Mother’s Day next weekend. I don’t know, I’d prefer finding a Marian hymn that shows Mary’s joy at the Resurrection, as it relates to Easter and Mother’s Day. For example: “Be Joyful, Mary” or “Regina Caeli”.
The next Mass for them will be combined with the Chancel Choir at the graduation Mass in June.
