Mike Portnoy is still estranged from Dream Theater? How long has it been now? 8 years?
Yeah, eight years, and many fans still aren’t over it. As someone who likes Mangini, even if not as much as Portnoy, the constant dismissing of him is getting older than the Nightwish fans hating on Anette.

At the very least, though, he and Petrucci are getting along well and occasionally show up on Instagram together. At the current time, I don’t get the feeling that Portnoy is getting his spot back from Mangini. The band seems to be getting along really well, and Mangini is a talented drummer. That said, part of me hopes continued friendship between Portnoy and Petrucci will give us a third Liquid Tension Experiment album.

With 2018 done, some favorite songs from the year:

Really, Prequelle just really resonated with me. Songs like “Rats”, “Witch Image”, “Miasma”, “Faith”, and of course “Dance Macabre” were all fantastic. Easily my favorite album of the year.

In reality, “Burns to Embrace” was my favorite song from the album, but since it doesn’t appear to be on YouTube, I’m just posting my next favorite. Overall, it was another solid album from Kamelot. I’m loving the new sound they’ve developed on the last couple albums.

Even if Tiara isn’t on the same level as Mercy Falls in terms of Seventh Wonder concept albums, I still enjoyed it. “Tiara’s Song” really got me hyped up for it and remained my favorite after hearing it all, though “By the Light of the Funeral Pyres” was a close second favorite.

And finally a Christian song. This one was a bit of a surprise, but I got introduced to it through the Christian metal subreddit. I fell in love, and it got me to go back and listen to other Christian bands like Antestor and Crimson Moonlight.

Guess I can’t embed videos on my phone.

@StudentMI, I love The Burning World album. I’ve not listened to Swans in probably 20 years! Wait - we are talking about the same group, aren’t we? 🙂

Yes! They reformed in 2010.

Not sure how to embed videos on the new forum.
