What kind of secular music do you think best reflects traditional moral values? Please consider only the lyrics and not your like/dislike for the rhythm or beat.
I definately agree. Actually I find that a lot of songs have a good but slightly (or more than slightly) twisted moral in them. Sometimes while I listen to a song, I’ll actually change some words in my head to reflect more of a “true catholic” view. There is good music in all the genres.
I like Rock/Alt/Country/Folk the best. These artist tend to have the best crafted songs.![]()
That is so true! Two of my current favorites are 'Long Black Train" (about how sin will take you straight into hell, but repenting of sin will save you), and “Tougher Than Nails” (a father talking to his son about how Jesus might have been mocked and made fun of for being weak, but ultimately he was tougher than nails). The vast majority of country music being played on the radio now has to do with love between a husband and wife, family, and generally upbeat and positive themes. Anyone who thinks country music is all about ‘My dog left me, my wife broke down, and someone shot my truck’ :whacky: has not listened to country for about 20 years or so.In my experince there are many more songs that overtly mention salvation from Christ playing on country stations by otherwise secular artist. There are top country songs that directly mention Christ and his gift of salvation.
