Another Koran has the following translation:

Surah 2:138
(We take our) colour from Allah, and who is better than Allah at colouring. We are His worshippers.

The original word in Arabic actually denotes “colour” or “dye”. However, many Muslim scholars and commentators traditionally see a reference to the critique of the Christian baptism in that verse.

Sister Amy is not telling the truth. The two words that denote religion in the Koran are “diyn” and “millat”.
 
Sibghah in the common arab contemporary meaning means a ‘‘dye’’ or a ''color ‘’ sort fo like in pigment.

Now The Quranic meaning ( which si more close to teh original arabic meaning) means the original form or structure of how things was created in the first place.

I read the title, read both links, read several translations of the ayah… and yet… I still don’t understand the question.

Maybe I’m dense. Can you help me out?

No, I’m not aware of any such web site. I haven’t looked for one, and I probably wouldn’t visit it except to answer a few maybe basic questions anyway. 🤷

Maybe i’ll just start by asking you this one question:
Do Muslims believe in baptism? I have been told by many Muslims baptism is not necessary as a baby is already born a Muslim. Besides, the Shahada is sufficient enough for them. Yet, the suras show there is some form of belief in it, although not in fullness as what Catholics believe in.

As for the links; don’t you think many of the things said in them are untrue especially concerning hygiene, historicity and how the site explains Christian baptism in a wrong fashion?

The site is not open for dialogue. It only presents what Muslims think of history and other non-Muslim doctrines and dogmas and many of them are downright misinformed.

They are not Christians, so it would not be efficacious.

I confess there is NO GOD but Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and Jesus is God Incarnate risen from the dead.

I have never seen a Muslim baptism, but i have witnessed a Muslim becoming Christian through baptism. He was in my wife’s RCIA class.

Actually i am curious as to why the sura exists and what it really means, theologically speaking of course. 😉
 
Muslims do not believe in baptism. They don’t perform baptisms either. I didn’t see anything objectionable in the links.

That doesnt mean he isnt muslim if he doesnt .

Of course you never see anything objectionable - especially when gross misrepresentations of Christian beliefs are explained by ‘Muslim scholars’.:rolleyes:

So here we have you, saying Islam does have a sort of a baptismal rite. Sister Amy, on the other hand says:

So we have two conflicting views. Which is right i wonder? Nonetheless, i seriously would like to know why the Suras exists yet Muslims have always told me they do not believe in baptism?

I don’t expect scholars of Islam to be scholars of Christianity as well.

Just like you shouldn’t expect your Christian scholars to be scholars of Islam.
 
Meedo isn’t talking about a baptismal rite. He is talking about a shower.

Muslims take showers quite regularly, in fact. One occasion of showering is after embracing Islam.

Muslims also shower after intercourse, after menstrual periods, at the end of post-natal bleeding, before holidays and at least once a week before going to the Friday prayer. It’s a shower, not a baptism.

It might be baptism in the sense of washing or dipping - which is what baptisma means - but it would not be Baptism.​

The question is about as sensible as asking what church a Buddhist attends.
